    Pros: good bass makes a huge boom sound

    Cons: turn the volume knob halfway and thats lound enough!!

    These speakers are totally worth it it may seem a little pricy but they are incredible the bass is loud and clear and bottom line it is very powerful...

    Pros: Easy set up, seperate bass and treble control

    Cons: over powered bass muddy mid range

    For the price, not a bad system exactly. The bass is extremely over powered and cross over frequency is too low as well. The down fired mid range produces muddled vocals. High end is slightly tinny, but better than the lows and mids. If you don't... have some sort of equalizer to run these through, (like on i-tunes), these speakers are almost useless. Sadly, these are among the better in this price range. Spend a little more if you can. Read more Less

    A key difference between good speakers and loud speakers is balancenot left-right balance, but tonal balance between the bass, midrange, and high-frequency sounds. Altec Lansing's VS4121 set makes the grade, providing more midrange than most speaker sets designed for computer use. Each of the shielded satellites incorporates a downward-firing midrange cone and Altec's proven Micro Drivers for highs. The 6.5-inch, wood-encased sub easily keeps up and can thump the floor if you crank up the base via the controls mounted on the left-side satellite.These speakers are a great companion to a desktop Mac, but no substitute for a home stereo.
