Almir Guineto is a true sambista, representative of the best tradition of the Carioca hills. In this album he delivers several pure styles of samba, like partido alto, samba-canção, samba de roda, and others. Not immune to the massive attack of the opportunism of the recording business, he included three songs here that lurk dangerously around the "romantic pagodinho" category, a commercial style that has been breaking selling records in Brazil, picking some elements of samba pagode and mixing them with stereotyped strings and keyboards in a watered-down version of samba.
