    Another classic album

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 24, 2004 | 1 out of 1 found this All That You Can't Leave Behind review helpful

    Pros: Edge's distinctive sound returns

Cons: New York not a great song

All That You Can't Leave Behind is U2's third classic album, after The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. It's a return to form for all the members of U2, but particularly for the Edge, whose great guitar sound is welcomed back in Beautiful Day.

The only mis-step on the album is "New York." That song is a bit flat and boring. But the rest of the album just gets better with repeated listening.

This Album Is Just Like The Best

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 22, 2001

This is the album with the old U2 mixed with the reinvented U2.
We waited 4 years for a new album and we got a very good album
I really like Walk On, being a tribute to Burmese Nobel Peace Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi.
Also Ground Beneath Her Feet was written by Salman Rushdie
Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of was written about the late INXS singer Michael Hutchence (RIP)
If you like a bit of the old U2 and like the new U2 this is an album that is sure to be played constantly in your CD or Cassette Player

    An instant Classic

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 21, 2001

U2 once again proves that they are the undisputed KINGS of ROCK'N'ROLL. This, their 12 effort is clearly one of their best. After a departure from the norm starting with Achtung Baby (still quintesential U2) they worried their long time fans, is this U2 many asked. However U2 proves time and again that they are the "Perfect progression of a rock band" Many thought U2 was through after the release of "Pop" (it did have lack luster sales) however no one wants to hear a band make the same music for 20 years. Countless numbers of bands have come and gone durring U2's reign at the top of the rock world. This album brings them full circle, returning to their roots yet still holding on to that experimental feel that makes them a Band for the Ages.

    Best U2 Album Ever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 14, 2001

I'll probably get in trouble for this from other U2 fans who feel that The Joshua Tree is the best thing since sliced bread, but I say that this is the new champion. Even now after 9 months of listening, the album gets better with every play. The reason that this strikes a chord with U2 faithfuls is this: it completes the band's maturation by mimicing the maturation of a human being. The Joshua Tree was about speaking out against the hardships of life, much as a teenager does. Achtung Baby was about living through those hardships as a young adult does. All That You Can't Leave Behind is about coming to terms with those ills and accepting them the way a mature adult does, although they haven't stopped fighting them. If this doesn't win Album of the Year, I'll never watch the grammy's again.

This is arguably the best U2 album since Achtung Baby. A fantastic repertoire of songs with U2 proving that they're still very much in touch with the 21st century (despite being in their 40s!). EXCELLENT!

    Finally, an awesome, classic band...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 17, 2001

I think that it is so great that U2 can still be around at this time in their career and still be popular and be able to put out awesome records. I think that the diversity of U2's sound is so awesome, it reaches all eras of music-lovers and generations. I think that a band like this deserves to be recognized for their contributions to the music business, and deserves all positive press that they recieve, they've worked hard to attain their level of standing in the music community.

    Re: One word-BONER

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 6, 2001 | 0 out of 1 found this All That You Can't Leave Behind review helpful

SUCKS, TERRIBLE, RUBBISH, DOG MESS. PAUL THE BUILDER LIKES BONER(OOPS I MEAN BONO). THE BEATLES WERE BETTER, AND SO WERE THE WHO, AND LED ZEPPELIN, AND DEEP PURPLE, AND BLACK SABBATH AND A WHOLE BUNCH OF PERFORMERS FROM THE CLASSIC ROCK ERA THAT MADE TIMELESS CLASSICS. U2 BLOWS AND PAUL THE BUILDER IS AN ILLITERATE PUNK WHO DOES NOT HOW TO WRITE AND NEVER GIVES ENOUGH REASONS FOR HATING THE BEATLES. I HATE U2 BECAUSE THEIR SONGS ARE TOO DULL AND BONER(OOPS I MEAN BONO) MOANS TO MUCH. IT MUST THAT DILDO UP HIS ASS THAT PAUL THE BUILDER WISHES HE HAD.

Will need some getting used to

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 23, 2001

U2 has always been my favorite band & I love just about every album they ever put out, but I'm having some trouble getting used to this new one. The first 3 songs are indisputably amazing (especially "Beautiful Day"), but it's just taking me more time this go. I suppose they've just reinvented themselves so many times that sooner or later they had to come up with something that didn't particularly excite my tastebuds right off the bat. I'm sure it'll grow on me though. Always does.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 27, 2001

Well, anything compared to POP would be a masterpiece, but this album is actually pretty damn good. However, they finally put out their first decent album out in 10 years and then they have the f'n nerve to charge up to $130 for tickets. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
