MUST See
The music is great, the dance numbers are unique and fantastic and Roy Schneider was top rate. Its also fun to see Jessica Lange, but dont miss out on this one.

are what this film is all about. Never mind the self obsessed autobiografical cum profetic background. The dance, and especially the finale are outstanding. It gave rise to a wave of dance films in the 80s, none of which came even close

Bob Fosse's prophetic semi-autobiography has the perverse thrill of watching a man disect himself, and the theatre world before you, and you don't always like what you see. The story of a director who destroys his own life, "All That Jazz" is not so much a story of a man's personal failings, but his own hateful blend of narcissism and self-obsession turned on himself. Fosse unblinkly looks into his own life and uses the people who actually surrounded him to play the roles they played in his life. Meta-fiction it's not though- it's theme's (ignoring the self-indulgence) are beautiful and stylishly executed. A wonderful film for theatre goers and those in the industry, while those outside of it will probably find the blase treatment of self-destructive behavior repugnant.
