A little too restrained, but still rokki

Mark Slaughter takes over vocals in VVI for this album, and his influence takes away from the album I think, and overall the songs are just lacking from being really memorable except for a few. The all out spitfire metal of the first album is missing... here, the distortion is weaker, the guitars aren't as loud, the riffs aren't spiced up with Vinnie's little lead fills everywhere, and it just does't have that scorching live energy like the first. The only real improvement is that the guitar solos are actually melodic unlike the first, but the other guitar work is far too mechanical for Vinnie's standards. Still much more slashing than Slaughter's efforts though, just not as good as VVI's first masterpiece. Read more Less

For those of you who like heavy metal in the 80's version, this albumn is unmatched. With the vocals from Mark Slaughter, it makes it a thrill ride not to be heard again from beginning to end.

Does that highpitched wail sound familiar? Well, odds are if you're reading this, you should know it. For Vinnie's second album, good ol' Mark Slaughter (who would soon with Invasion bassist Dana Strum form the even more successful and creatively named hair metal band Slaughter) takes over vocals from the departed Robert Fleischman, and while his highpitched wails are a bit hard to take, his vocals give this record a bit more consistency than the debut. Outside of that it's kinda just more of the same. Unfortunate for Mr. Vincent given his obvious talents, this sort of "metal" that somehow thrived from 19851990 (or so) wasn't the type of rock that was open to too much experimentation. So what you get here is a pretty runofthemill hair rock album: rockers, ballads, solos, etc.

Vinnie Vincent

Although he forged a brief solo career in the late-80's, Guitarist Vinnie Vincent is best known for his short stint in Kiss, from 1982-84. Born Vincent Cusano on August 5, 1952 in Connecticut, Cusano picked up guitar at a very early age, inspired by the speed of bluegrass () and rock n' roll. Throughout the 70's, he recorded an un-noticed album with the band Treasure, a... Read more
