If you love Kenny...you'll love this CD

Pros: classic songs..and some cool Kenny-style songs

    Cons: Nothing

Obviously I'm a huge Kenny fan...so I have no complaints about this CD. Kenny could sing the phone book and I'd love it, but seriously this is a great CD for the holidays. It's kind of mellow and low-key and perfect to have in the background while celebrating the Christmas holidays. I love it.

All I want for Christmas is a real good tan

    Pros: His wonderful voice...

    Cons: none

Kenny's 2003 Christmas CD is a wonderful blend of old and new. The CD begins with a fantastic melodic little ditty penned by the multi talented Paul Overstreet, and has Kenny singing about his yearning for a tan on Christams instead of the cold and dreary weather. Track 2 has a little twist towards the end of what is normally a flat Christmas staple song. But his little island twist thrown in for good measure makes it a cute updated version of an old standard. Track 3 is another islandy feeling tune of yet another remade version of "I'll be home for Christmas". It would be just bland if not for Kenny's smooth lovely voice at the end wishing me a Merry Christmas! Number 4's remake is blessed with the masterful and enormous voice of Randy Owen of the original singers, Alabama. It's a testament to the wonderful blending of the old and new. "Thank God for Kids" is an Oak Ridge Boys retool but sounds new coming out of Kenny's mouth. "Silver Bells" while most of the time is a boring monotonous melody, comes alive and is revamped with Kenny's silky voice lending itself to it. Track 7 is a Kent Blazy and Skip Ewing collaboration that is an emotional song with a powerful message. Kenny's delivery is above reproach. It's no wonder that Kent and Skip are the top song writers with the most talent. Number 8 is a perfect example of what Kenny is capable of when he sits down with his mind on writing. Dean Dillon and Buddy Cannon are perfect co-writers and complete Kenny perfectly! "Pretty Paper" written by Willie Nelson is song number 9. Kenny is blessed with not only having it on this CD, but sining the song with the author of the song...Mr. Willie Nelson. The result is a stirring rendition that rivals the original recording of it. "Silent Night" while always a strong Christmas favorite of mine because of the message of my true Christmas meaning it sings of, is so well done and not over done that it is moving and quite beautiful. Kenny sings it the way it should be sung...slow...peaceful...
and beautiful. The addition of the 'Grigsby Twins' at the end of the song is lovely. The last song on the disc is "O Little Town of Bethlehem". It is a fitting end to a wonderful Christmas disc. It is lovely and the original tune is carried throughout by Kenny and his strong and talented voice. He never falters and gives testament to Christmas and Jesus the way any good Christian man should. Kenny you made your grandma Grigsby proud! I loved the disc and recommend that you give it a listen as well.
