    The Alexander PC Game Review

    By krackle2015  Jan 5, 2005

Pros: Very In-depth play and Historically Accurate

    Cons: Nothing Visually Amazing here

So, you didn't like the movie...Neither did I. Oliver Stone really lets us all down. But God Bless Ubisoft for delivering an historically loyal game that is ten times better than the movie, I exaggerate not. If you're one of those guys lookin...g for the latest visually-stunning game on the market, this game ain't for you. The game doesn't have an outward look of crap but it's main effort was clearly not on the games graphics. Luckily for me and many of you, they concentrated more on the gameplay and the presentation of the story of Alexander The Great which is just stunning. Unlike the terrible movie, the movie starts out from the beginning of the story with Alexander as the King of Macedonia trying to squash invaders and a Greko-Rebellion at the city of Thebes. Between each leavel there's a snippet of footage from the movie that corresponds with it as well as worthwhile text and beautiful art. Ofcourse, you start out small in the game then work your way up like in all strategy games to when you gotta realy use your head like in the Siege of Tyre. The Gameplay is easy to understand, it being like many strategy games plus with a couple special features. You can only for the most part control a group of soldiers which seems stupid but it actually works out really well with you being able to make numerous soldiers at the same time in your barracks and being able to command them into many different tactical maneuvers which is very cool. It'll take you a while to master the different troop formations to fit them for the right occasion but that's the best part of thegame naturally and it's pretty obvious anyway after you understand the type of fighting you're doing. All of Alexander's General's are their too as well as Darius the third and the ruler of India, whatever his name was. If you like strategy games like Starcraft, Command and Conquer and Warcraft, you'll kill over this one that's based on the man himself that conquered the world before many people move out of their parent's house today, Alexander The GREAT! Ubisoft - Alexander review

Alexander the movie has been criticised for being anything but an epic and unfortunately this hastily thrown together strategy game suffers from the same delusions of grandeur. Instead of a royal feast to rival Rome Total War we're left with a limp and ragged Greek salad. Read more
