    Another Crichton Great

Pros: Interesting plot, well written as always

Cons: Slow spots, can be a bit cheesy.

Not Crichton's best, but brilliant all the same. It will not make you fear airplanes. It's not that kind of book. It's mostly mystery, some thriller. Action-packed, interesting plotline. Unusual choice of a female lead, but he pulls it... off without a hitch. And while there is a team in the book, the book follows the lead character almost entirely, making it kind of an oddity as far as Crichton books go. The technical details and explainations are readable and actually add a lot of depth. Some of the characters are a little cliche, but they're believable enough that it doesn't really matter. All in all, a good read. Throughly enjoyed it, recommend it. Read more Less

Pro Reviews: Airframe

  • Enhanced Muze Note

...He [Crichton] has taken on a complex subject in "Airframe" and made its subtleties dramatically vivid.

  • Enhanced Muze Note

Crichton wants to make your pulse race from almost the first page--or more to the point, the first frame. And he is extremely good at it. His books are essentially screenplays with a few editorials tucked in. The editorials are the interesting part...He's against self-righteous reporters, internationalist businessmen, and ambitious women too.

Publisher Notes: Airframe

  • Three passengers are dead. Fifty-six are injured. The interior cabin virtually destroyed. But the pilot manages to land the plane. . . .
At a moment when the issue of safety and death in the skies is paramount in the public mind, a lethal midair disaster aboard a commercial twin-jet airliner bound from Hong Kong to Denver triggers a pressured and frantic investigation.
AIRFRAME is nonstop reading: the extraordinary mixture of super suspense and authentic information on a subject of compelling interest that has been a Crichton landmark since The Andromeda Strain.

    "From the Hardcover edition."
