    Hysteria part II

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 15, 2002

After waiting another 5 years for the Lep's to release a new album(where unfortunately their mainstay lead guitarist Steve Clark passed away while recording), Adrenalize tried too hard to live up to its mighty predecessor. The album is just too poppy ...and predictable in such tracks as 'Heaven is', 'Make Love Like a Man'(A nice sequel to Pour Some Sugar on Me), and the power pop 'Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad.' There are some good tracks such as the opener in 'Lets Get Rocked', and the very nice tribute to Steve Clark in 'White Lighting.' The latter being as close to the quality of Hysteria on this outing.Overall, I though Lep could come up with something much better than Adrenalize. They stayed with the tried and true formula of Hysteria, but even made it more pop metally in the process. Its okay for the time, but thankfully they realized this and released some great rockers on 'RetroActive.' This album restored my faith in the band again:) Read more Less

The jury may still be out on Adrenalize, but with the band's misfortunes (guitarist Steve Clark died of a drug overdose), they can be forgiven for slipping a bit after the mega-success of Hysteria. That's not to dismiss Adrenalize, however, which still has a heaping helping of Leppard's patented Brit-pop crash-and-burn fusion.

Biography

Def Leppard

Def Leppard, in many ways, was the definitive hard rock band of the '80s. There were many bands that rocked harder, and were more dangerous, than the Sheffield quintet, but few others captured the spirit of the times quite as well. Emerging in the late '70s as part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the group actually owed more to the glam-rock and metal of the ear... Read more
