Pros: all
Cons: none
great cd DO buy it!!!!
Pros: Bono will one day die
Cons: The Edge stole his guitar work from the Bauhaus guitarist. Bono always tries to sound like Bowie & Iggy during their Berlin period but fails in this. U2 sometimes tries to add theatrics to their shows (like the silverscreen) that they stole from Alice Cooper.
U2 is one of the most overrated bands in the world. This can NOT be said enough! They are pretentious and have stolen their idea's from lots of other musicians. They try to copy it and bring it in the mainstream to deceive people that they are pioneers of some sorts.
In reality they are a bad rip off carbon copy of almost every rock musician of the 70's out there.
Bono and his guys should go into politics. As I must say he IS very good in that. He'd make an excellent politician!
Pros: Too many to count
Cons: 1 or 2 tracks overlong
One of the greatest reinventions in rock history. The first time i heard "The Fly" I felt a teensy bit disturbed, which is exactly how a great rock track should be.
Irony delivered to stadiums intact. Fantastic.
I originally bought this as a tape over 10 years ago and lost it when my car was stolen. I kept wanting to buy it again, but just never got around to it or couldn't find it in the stores when I tried. I found it online and now it stays in my CD player. I still remember all the words!:) I love it!
The soundtrack to the 90s. Without a doubt the best music created the entire decade. The most moving, coolest CD of all time. Mysterious Ways, The Fly, and One are my top 3 favorites, but WGRYWH? and Even better than the real thing are close. I must have listened to this CD 1000 times, and still not tired of it.
This is U2's best album. If you're gonna get one from them, this is the one to get.
Probably my favorite U2 album. "One," "The Fly," "Even Better Than The Real Thing," "Light My Way," "Acrobat," "Who's Gonna Ride....," it's all incredibly moving, gorgeous, and brilliant.
the best album of the nineties?this is a discrace...how can people say garbage like this?i mean u2 are good but so good this album is not!so cut the crap and go get a good album from a good band...not the pop/rock
he wants to lick my

ED CEAMOREBUTTS
Every songs on this album are a gem. Especially "until the end of the world", and "One".
Achtung Baby is an album that grabs you and does not let go. The single version of Wild Horses was better than the album version, I never liked Ultra Violet, but there are so many incredible tracks on this album. One of the best albums of all time, no doubt.
GOD HIMSELF COULD NOT HAVE MADE A BETTER ALBUM. TAKE ALL LED ZEPELIN, STONES, BEATLES, AEROSMITH, ACDC AWAY FROM ME...JUST LEAVE ME UNDER THE JOSHUA TREE WITH MY ACHTUNG BABY
This album is so great!I can't believe that an album could be so awsome! This is so awsome and the songs are so great! The lyrics are fantastic! This is one of the greatest albums of all time!Their music is so awsome and was so great!I like the band alot! They are are and always will be the best band ever!I like the album alot all the songs are really good and the rythm is so great!
Let me just say that I've been around the block a few times as far as music goes. I lived through the Beatles, the Stones, Pink Floyd, and Zepplin. I own over 1500 records and CD's.
'Achtung Baby' is the most mature, moving, exciting, and experimental album to come out since the punk movement died out in the late seventies/early eighties. U2's lyrical ambition and musical innovation is unmatched by any of their peers and this album is a monumental example of that.
Easily one of the ten greatest of all time, and the youngest one on the list too. If you are contemplating buying this album, I suggest you do so at once. You won't regret it.
This album is great. Their is not one bad song on this album. With the exception of "Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World," the album is simply fantastic. Here is my review of the individual songs...
1.) Zoo Station - This musical vibration is a great start-up song. It is easily inviting as it is intriguing. Bono's vocals are the instrument in this song.
2.) Even Better Than The Real Thing - The Edge really works with his guitar in this song. The riffs are amazing and the "spacy" aspect of it all is undeniably well-past satisfactory (if you were to see the music video, then you'd know what I'm talking about).
3.) One - I believe this song to be U2's greatest slow-moving musical masterpiece. It is one of my favorites, and surpasses their 1987's "With or Without You" in my opinion. A truly great song.
4.) Until The End Of The World - Another great guitar-driven song by The Edge. I would think this song to be one of the two fillers for the album, but still, I wouldn't press the "jump" button on my CD-player. I just couldn't, I won't.
5.) Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses - This is one of the great songs of the album. It isn't soft and it isn't loud, but it is undeniably U2, as is the entire album. It is somewhat of a lustful song, but without being too presumptious.
6.) So Cruel - I really enjoyed this lyrical song. It is not the instruments that carry the mood of the song, nor is it the vocals of frontman Bono. It is, however, the lyrics that carry the song throughout the melody. The song moves through a simple chorus, and ends with an unchanged vocal and instrumental chorus, but a changed lyrical chorus. I like it.
7.) The Fly - This is a very cool song. The incredible experimentation of it all is astounding. Everyone should hear this song. The combination of the gospel voice and Bono's' in the chorus is very groovy. It is one of the best songs in the album.
8.) Mysterious Ways - This is my favorite song off the album. My favorite lyric of the song, "If you wanna kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel - one your knees boy!" is often misheard. People can often mistake it for "If you want to kiss this guy..." I just find that funny. Anyway, it's a very good song.
9.) Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World - My worst song off the album, but it isn't a bad song, just okay from an album with so many great songs. The chorus isn't that standout-ish, nor are the lyrics. Not much else to say, except that it's a break from the previous rockin' ways of "Mysterious Ways" and "The Fly."
10.) Ultra Violet (Light My Way) - Baby, Baby, Baby, this is a good song. The chorus is simple, but very catchy. Can't really dislike this song, except for the fact that it might seem to drag out at the end, but if I should complain about that, then I am just nitpicking.
11.) Acrobat - This song has my favorite lyric of the album, "Don't let the b*st*rds grind you down." Can't not like that. It is somewhat of an uplifting song, despite it's somewhat dark mood. It tells you to do what you want, and not care what anyone else has to say. It is a fine song, indeed.
12.) Love Is Blindness - This is the darkest song of the album (in mood), and perhaps one of the darkest songs U2 have ever done. It might take a few listens to getting used to, but after becoming used to it, you can't get enough of it. "A little death without mourning, no call and no warning." The entire song sends shivers down your spine. It is, in my own description, a love song for the dead.
This is Achtung Baby in review. It is my favorite U2 album. The genious of it all. U2 came along way since their previous put out, Rattle and Hum. They reinvented themselves for a new decade, and what a reinvention it was. That is all...
...and there was much rejoicing...
You're calling U2 gay? Who the hell do you think you are? You're a
I feel that when U2 decided to go away after their Joshua Tree tour that they wouldn't come back with anything good. But they proved me wrong. They showed with their new sound that they were still one of the best bands around. Songs like "One" and "Until the End of the World" provided the best lyrics around. Bono really poured his heart into these lyrics like the "Joshua Tree" before it. The Edge's soulful guitar and the riffs in these songs were amazing. And of course, the bass and percussion of Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, really provided a great backdrop. The best of them all.
Terrific lyrics ..Mindblowing music
This is one of those albums that innocently possess you and take you over. When you realize, you became an addict to Achtung Baby. The people on this board that criticized this album basically did it mocking Bono and The Edge. Am I wrong? No. There's nothing to complain on this album. Most of the bands that make the kind of music shown in AB make stupid music, because they're commercial. But U2 could make the so called "modern rock" with art, talking wonderfully about love and solitude. It's too easy to say that Bono does not have a good voice or that Edge's guitars are bad, and I almost agree with that. But this won't be enough to bash U2's music down. U2 is based on songwriting, not performance. Any average guitarist can get a guitar and play Bad with no problems. Yet, he will make a wonderful performance because the MUSIC is beautiful. This happens on Achtung Baby. The songs are beautiful and consistent, all tied up in one magnificent album. It's not only Even Better..., One and Mysterious Ways that make this album. You can't forget Until The End Of The World, So Cruel, Ultraviolet and Acrobat. The songs have soul, ambience and consistency. And these are the main ingredients to make a beautiful song. And, some songs even have pulsating rhythms (Zoo Station, Even Better Than The Real Thing), mindblowing instrumentations (Until The End Of The World, The Fly) and furious feedback guitars (Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Love Is Blindness). When you listen to this album, you can't expect a classic rock masterpiece like Queen's A Night At The Opera, because it's not intended to be that. Achtung Baby is an album made with mind and soul. And U2 has a real great mind and soul to make masterpieces like The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. I would say this is one of the most well done albums ever, but not the best rock album ever. But this is one of my U2 favorites... Well, it's hard for me to select a few U2 favorites. I love all of them. But Achtung Baby is a rare gem in the world of rock.
