    Great little laptop

    Pros: Price is low, lightweight, great graphics

    Cons: Processor speed is a little thin

    This is a very nice little laptop for the 649 I paid at Staples. Unbelievable value for that money. I'm a professional software architect, and this laptop runs Apache, MySQL, and PHP on the localhost server without missing a beat. Vista is the ...best of the MS operating systems so far, in my opinion. A little bloated, but a huge amount of utilities and features for most users. I haven't had to use support, so I don't much care if Acer has great support or not, I just don't know. that says something in itself. If you don't have to ever call support, who cares if it's good or bad, they made a good product. Overal, a fantastic deal for a nice computer. The 1.6GhZ CPU is a little slower than I'm used to, but nothing severe. ~A! Read more Less

    Buying Acer for less $ is bad, buy QUALITY

    Pros: I'd give anything to be able to think of one

    Cons: Slow, Cheap made, Customer NO SERVICE ONLY

    I went into a local retailer to buy a Gateway. After I enter 2 salesmen came to me looking at the Gateway I wanted t buy and totally ambushed me to save $150. buy the Acer, it was new out and going to be the "NEW WONDER" I have tried to get... customer service for my warranty by calling, e-mailing and going back to the retailer. There is no such thing as help with this computer. I am out the door in 3 days to buy the Gateway I talked my brother and neighbor into buying. ACER is a big LOSER and please pass the work quick before so many people make the mistake!! Thank you for reading my serious and complete accurate account of this system. Read more Less

    First off i'm no computer whiz, this is the first machine i've owned since a 300mz k62. I caught it for $599 @ office max. Nice hard drive, processor speed, alot of bang for your buck!     Do not buy Acer

    Since I have had this computer it has been one problem after the other. The disk drive was the first to go, faulty wiring being the problem (I couldn't just replace the drive). Then the touch pad stopped working, so now I have to carry a mouse wi...th me everywhere I go. The latest problem is a Resource Conflict error that appears when I try to turn it on (a problem with the motherboard).Do not buy Acer! Read more Less

    Pros: Big bang for the price (I paid 650 -150 rebate)

    Cons: Blew up 2 of 'em

    My first one went after 30 days.The laptop was stuck in system restore loop but was replaced by circuit city (30 day return policy).Next one worked great but had problem with recommended windows driver install then the tech said the motherboard went ...(after a year and a half) luckily I bought the extended warranty after the first problem.Otherwise,I haven't had any problems and it's fast and runs WOW great.We'll see what happens next.     Pathetic Support, but not a bad computer

    Pros: good graphics, okay battery life, durable, and water in the keys doesn't muder the entire thing

    Cons: slow, not much memory, and the support from acer is the absolute worst.

    I really liked this computer, it worked for me. I wanted a bit more memory, and a faster computer, but over all it was pretty good. Until my warranty was up. About a week before it ended my disk drive stopped working- so I sent my computer in to get ...it fixed. 2 weeks later I got my computer back, and it worked just fine. But the disk drive didn't work after 2 uses. I sent it back a month ago, and still haven't gotten it back. Acer is not a bad computer brand- but I would never buy one again because of all the problems i had with support. It takes 30 minutes to an hour of holding on the phone to get any support for any problems. Acer's support is pathetic. THe computers aren't bad until the warranty is up- the power cords can be replaced in just a few days if yours stops working, but my advice- don't buy any acer computer. Read more Less

    Had for a year and crashed twice

    My parents bought this acer for me a year ago. It crashed after 9 months and sent it in to acer and they replaced the hardrive. Got it back and has never worked properly since. Just had to do another system recovery and it has only been a month and a... half since I got it back from them. I am looking for a new laptop and probably going to get a mac. Goodbye vista.     Conveniently timed meltdown

    Pros: It was okay while it worked

    Cons: Dies within weeks of warranty expiring - poor customer support

    This laptop came installed with Windows Vista, and all the media programs I tried were unable to play audio files without making a frequent, annoying, digital popping noise. So I replaced Vista with a Linux operating system and then I was at least ab...le to listen to music. Then, literally a year and 3 weeks after I purchased it, the laptop totally crashed - won't even turn on. The customer support is nothing of the sort. They have no intention of helping you or working with you. If your computer dies even a day after the 1 year warranty, you have to pay them $250 to make it work again. Might as well have spent that money on a better computer, assuming there are good computers somewhere out there. Read more Less
