Formed in Rochester in September 1983, Absolute Grey started performing at clubs such as ~Schatzee's, ~Scorgies, and ~the Snake Sister's Cafe. The group's commitment to a psychedelic sound caught the attention of many listeners who compared the band to R.E.M., Dream Syndicate, as well as Jefferson Airplane.
