Synopsis: Above the Law (1988)

Probably the best of Steven Seagal's three-word-titled action films from the 1990s was his debut, ABOVE THE LAW. Probably the best of Steven Seagal's three-word-titled action films from the 1990s was his debut, ABOVE THE LAW. Seagal plays Nico, a tough cop who pulls off the biggest drug bust of his career, only to have the FBI throw a wrench in it: why are they protecting one of the country's biggest drug lords, and what does it have to do with Nico's covert work in Vietnam? As his temper explodes all over Chicago, Nico's sixth-degree black belt in aikido proves helpful in his search for answers. Blaxploitation icon Pam Grier plays Nico's partner, Jax.

User Reviews: Above the Law (1988)

  • Overall:

    Sucks

This movie tops my list of all time, time wasters. The action is well, lets put it this way- one scene 5 guys with machine guns go after Steven and he gets them to all drop there guns with his handgun. Dont Waste Your time.

    AIKIDO MIXED WITH ATTITUDE

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 9, 2001

Next to Exit Wounds, this is Steven Seagal's best film to date. Here, he plays Nico Toscani, a cop who is an expert in martial arts, has the mafia for a family and a drug dealer for a nemesis. Nothing new in terms of the plot but the action is top no...tch with Nico beating nine colours of snot out of anyone who gets in his way. Be warned, some fight scenes are somewhat violent and bloody, but overall, entertaining. For Seagal fans and anyone who is looking for some kicks. Read more Less
