Pros: There is nothing that this phone can't do!

Cons: The phone has so many features that it takes awhile to learn how to use all of them.

All in all, I think that this phone is probably the greatest PDA phone ever made. It, by far, has the most features and upgrades available. The only downside that I can come up with so far is that the phone is a little on the expensive side. But to m...e it is definately worth every penny. Read more Less

    It's all about the Apps

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 24, 2007 | 16 out of 19 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: Others have listed...screen is huge!!

    Cons: No GPS

First off I am a Treo 650/700P user....loads of apps....goodlink etc. I had to get a WinMobile phone and decided to upgrade my spare phone which was on Cingular. Amazing phone and I made right choice as I also have experience with Treo 750,700W,Q an...d BJack. The 8525 takes a dump all over those other devices. It's all about the apps!! 1. SlingBox......get it and load the WINMOB client on the 8525.....and never be without again!! This alone is worth every penny of the data plan, if you are a mobile worker. 2. Synch with MS EXCH....this blows the doors off goodlink in terms of simplicity and speed. Good does have a few features like access to public folders and notes....but point the 8525 to the corporate owa server and BAM.....you have two way push email. 3. Google Maps.....there is a mobile client and I found it VERY helpful to have on the device....and only wish the 8525 had an OPEN GPS. 4. MSN works great.....IM, hotmail..... 5. Avaya IP Softphone.....perfect example of an app that can run while connected to WiFi. Once again the PDA version is required as well some VPN access...depending on your corp setup. Nothing like flipping the switch on the 8525 and transforming it into a full featured corporate telephone/with access to the complete telephony network.....no air time (WiFi). So get your BT Stereo headsets/ear buds...load up the slingbox.....crank out some emails....set your appts...IM your friends and co-workers....proof your office docs....lookup your next calls directions....check your flight status....trade stocks....access the corp telephone network...and have a nice day. Only had the phone a week....give me a month and the app list will be really cranking!!!! Read more Less

    Awesome Phone,

    By Tori  Mar 22, 2007 | 11 out of 12 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: Keyboard, Touch Screen, Camera, Internet

Cons: Buying a Memory card, Easy to break ha, Kind of slow at times

I bought this phone about a month ago, and I love it, i First started out with the old model the 8125, and i was hooked, i went from a piece of crap Razor which i had so many problems, to these PDAs. I love the Keyboard, i can type fast and easy,.... i Ablsolutly love the touch screen making it easy to use and select what you want, My battery lasts all day from texting to listening to music to the internet. The Camera is great. The price is high but its well worth it to be able to do everything and put anything from your computer on to it. The things that bother me is i cant download any games,.. It tends to get slow sometimes, even when i turn it off nightly, not alot of memory. Its hard to find any cases or covers or anything for it. and randomly my signal goes out and my textsmessages dont send right. and alot of times myfriends dont know how to work it ha, but that has nothing to do with the phone. Otherwise, I love this phone and wouldnt change it for anything in the world, The price isnt bad consididering i paid $300 when the Razors first came out and that phone was horrible. The keyboard is the main reason why i love it. Read more Less

THE BEST DAMN PHONE, PERIOD !

    By Roc  Jan 16, 2007 | 8 out of 11 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: Everything is first rate, THE best phone YET !

Cons: Battery life but you have to factor in phone size !

There is nothing that this phone cant do ! From mail, to messaging, to business, to pictures/videos, to music, then back to being a cellular phone. The battery life is great seing that phone's screen is so big. You can acess everything easily... with the stylus, but you can also acess them via the track wheel and the 5-way navigation. The only downside I could think of would be the memory, but you can always buy a sandisk micro sd and add as much as you want. The phone is a little pricey but I would have paid more for this phone if I had to ! I recommend this phone to all business persons that would love to have the best phone available, or teenagers that want to have THE best phone at your school. Read more Less

    Breakable phone

    By wawonia  May 4, 2007 | 4 out of 5 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: lots of software, options and control buttons

Cons: Once you drop that phone, you're screwed! Pricey! No insurance option

I had this phone for about 3 weeks until I lost my grip and dropped it around 2 feet straight down to a hardwood floor and it stopped working, but there wasn't any sign of scratches or damage to the phone. It will not power up at all. The red lig...ht lights up when you plug in the power adapter, not orange that I normally see. I had a sidekick 2 and it hardly breaks when you drop it. I dropped it about 7 times or so and it still works. I'm disappointed in the sturdiness of the Cingular 8525. I wonder if many people had the same issue with the sturdiness. I could playback youtube videos on it, though a little slow, but managable. It can do lot of things like desktop computers can do. It has a great 2 megapixel built in camera, many of the photos look like it came from a regular digital camera. It has nice pop3 e-mail options in the built in e-mail program. I used Gmail to push e-mail into that device to check messages. I also didn't like when Cingular does NOT offer insurance for Cingular 8525 and they told me to find my own and they don't know any insurance for me to refer to when I got the phone. This phone costs $400 for a breakable phone. Come on, they can do better than that! Read more Less

    Solid Fone, but Requires Care

    By Josef  Apr 16, 2007 | 3 out of 3 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: Versatile productivity tool; Solid reception; Excellent speaker phone; Handwriting recognition

Cons: USB jack for headphones; Not easy to customise

When I entered the market, I was really interested in the Palm 680. I was new to smartphones/PDAs and I wanted to start small. As soon as I held this though, I started to feel differently. It is powerful, beautiful, and easy to use. The biggest attr...actions for me to this fone were that I could view and EDIT word, excel, and power point files on this fone. I wanted something I could use while riding the train or bus (without unpacking my laptop). While it can be tricky to use the stylus on a bumpy ride, the sliding keyboard is a quick and easy solution to that. Be forewarned: the ClearVue pdf reader doesn't work with all pdf documents, and uninstalling it (to replace with another pdf reader like Acrobat) requires third-party software and a little bit of know-how. The other features of this fone are equally persuasive. First off, I LOVE the 3G speed. Whenever I wander into an area where the 3G network doesn't extend, I wonder how the other half lives with their slow network speeds! Moreover, I am no longer enslaved to my laptop as a slave to my email. Push email requires some set-up and I don't use that, but the pull works just fine for my needs (I set it to every 30 minutes). Also, messaging is wonderful. I can send SMS and MMS quickly and easily. I appreciate that I can send a voice text message, instead of leaving someone a voicemail. Sometimes I have some trouble downloading MMS, and I'm not sure why. Reception did not appear to be the source of the problem. Anyway, downloading is usually fixed by shutting down and rebooting. This fone is REALLY easy to use. The stylus makes navigation even quicker than the convenient clickwheel, and nothing beats the handwriting recognition software. Some other people complained about the side buttons, but there is a lock feature that they seemingly do not use. It solves my side button problems, e.g., while fumbling to draw the fone out of my holster. The buttons can also be set to different functions pretty easily, or you can even set the functions to voice commands! Finally, this is a very beautiful looking fone. People compliment me all the time about my hot new fone. It's sleek, well-built, and just holding it one can feel the reassuring quality and power that this fone packs. It's also pretty cool to pull out the microSD card and say, "2 gigs," while I'm showing off my fone. It feels kind of like a James Bond moment. For some people, 2G isn't enough space, but it's plenty for me. That said, there are some certain drawbacks. First, I find that unless I carry my fone in a holster, and not in my pocket, the sliding mechanism becomes loose. That hardware failure is not covered by warranty. Additionally, I have experienced some fairly frequent system freezes. Some freezes require not just that I reboot, but that I actually take out the battery and let the fone sit a few moments. One of the biggest hardware drawbacks is that the fone doesn't have a normal headphone jack; instead, it has a miniUSB port. It's a real pain in the ass to find decent headphones with the appropriate end or an adapter. Finally, the sound and visual settings are not very easily customised. There are some annoying beeps that I'd like to get rid of. For example, the fone beeps when I change volume settings in the middle of a fone call, or receive an email, txt, or other message in the middle of a call. Also, I'd like to be able to turn off my ringer while still keeping the alarm active. The visuals - colour, background, et al. - are not the easiest to customise either. Basically, I had to elect for a preset colour scheme and then add a background that I wanted. That was the full extent of the visual customisation. I heartily recommend this fone to anyone whose primary concern is productivity. This fone will certainly satisfy anyone (unless you absolutely require more than 2Gs) with its versatility, Read more Less

    Almost perfect!!!

    By RobertoR  Apr 3, 2007 | 3 out of 3 found this AT&T 8525 review helpful

Pros: Very good PDA whith the best features in the market, good cell ohone features

Cons: little heavy and not the best battery life.

Good processor speed, amazing internet connection speeds and overall PDA funtions. Best I owned so far, The camera takes really good photos and video for a 2 MP camera. The only 2 things that I will love to see improve is the weight and the battery... life but this will not keep me from repating this phone in the future. Read more Less
