Synopsis: A Star Is Born (1954)

Sweeping melodrama about a young singer, discovered by a major male studio star, who becomes enamored of her and helps her rise to the top. She does, they get married, but his career begins to hit the skids as her's continues to rise. She then must carry him through his battle with alcoholism and abusive behavior.

    Another Garland Standard, right up there with the Wizard of Oz, A Star is Born is one of the best performances given by Judy Garland or anyone for that matter I have ever seen. She was nominated for an academy award (best actress) and one can see fr...om the polished performance she gives that she was worthy of the honor. Read more Less
