A True Horror Classic!

Unlike, Halloween and Friday the 13th, this movie's maniac actually talks, instead of being a faceless maniac behind a mask. The atmosphere of the movie is scary with the theme music. I'd have to say this is probably my fav horror movie in the slasher genre. It doesnt allow itself to stoop to the lows of movies like the 13th series and Scream. What i mean is, nobody purposely goes wandering into rooms where they know damn well a k...iller is hiding. Cause in dreams there is no escape. Watching this movie makes me wonder what the hell Wes Craven was thinking when he made that crappy drama movie. He should stick to what he does best, and thats scaring the @#%! out of people. This film well and truely is a very good film and after buying this on vhs realised a film this good deserves to be purchased on dvd!Which i did and have watched it 10-45 times at home and still love it.Langenkamps portrayle of Nancy Thompson was ast...ounding and was delighted when she returned in the the third nightmare "Nightmare On Elm Street part 3-The Dream Warriors"! Freddy's best outing...the original nigh

This movie was such a frightening and fun horror classic that anybody could see the humor in the other films. But if you want the scariest, you gotta go back to the original. Here, Freddy is played like a creepy, evil villain; I'd rather blow my head... off than catch myself having bad dreams about him. Sadly, the teenage kids don't and one by one fall prey to the vengeful Krueger (Robert Englund). Only Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) can use her intelligence to get Krueger out of dreamworld, into reality, and finish him off there. This was a good ending, ruined by a sequel that wasn't even as tense as the original. It's Wes Craven's direction and script, as well as Charles Bernstein's music and Englund's performance, that brings the fear to the frontline. Read more Less
