Jan Schlichtmann, a tenacious young lawyer, is confronted with the litigation of a lifetime in this unbelievable real-life story. Several families in the small town of Woburn, Massachusetts, have suffered the tragic losses of their children to the rare cancer known as leukemia. After having their claim rejected by most law firms in town, these citizens approach Schlichtmann with the possibility that the deaths of their children may have had to do with Woburn's drinking water supply being contaminated by a couple of local businesses. The rub lies in the fact that these businesses are offshoots of two of the most powerful national corporations in the country! Schlichtmann must push his skill and craftiness as a lawyer to the limit in order to oust his opponents, who are working with a limitless bankroll. Based on the great fact-based novel.

    Awsome

Pros: Very interesting, touching, just awsome overall, kind of funny

Cons: Need to know some law/court terms

I watched this film in my Law Class in school and usually no one pays any attention to movies, but everyone watched this movie and only had good things to say about it. John Travolta does an awsome job portraying his character, and you can really see... the growth of his character through the entire film. And there's a guy with a last name cheeseman...its funny. • Overall:

no action but good court drama

this isn't a movie to watch with your buddies on a friday night when you are in the mood to see blown up cars or good fire works. This is one of those movies that you watch when you have the time to relax and understand the meaning of this movie sin...ce it deals mostly with court cases. The storyline however lacks a good evidence for the good guys and so throughout the whole film, you feel as if Trovata's character is just hoping to win instead of doing something moraly right. Realistic when it comes to cases like in real life but a bit disapointing when it's in the movies. Still, its a good movie to rent and watch. Read more Less
