A sequel to 1990's unusual NES platformpuzzler, the DS version of A Boy and His Blob is set six years after the original adventure. Older (and now a little wiser), the boy (now an allAmerican teenager) had nearly forgotten about his adventures in the world of Blobolonia, until the day his blob, Blobert, returned from outer space to warn him of a grave danger. This time, it's not the Blobolonoian Empire at stake, but our own planet Earth.

It seems that the Evil Emperor who was defeated in the first game escaped to Earth, and has been waiting here patiently for revenge against us unsuspecting humans. The time is nigh. Once again, it will take the boy, his blob, and a sundry supply of jellybeans to stop the Emperor's villainy.

The DS sequel features 3D graphics, but retains the sidescrolling platform action of the original. Its 15 main levels are stocked with puzzles that must be solved by feeding Blobert different flavors of jellybeans in order to make him transform in to different tools, such as a ladder, a trampoline, or even a suit of protective armor.
