    HP iPAQ H5555

By Chico  Oct 4, 2003 | 57 out of 67 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: Good Interface and great color.

Cons: Bulky Shape. Cost is to High for basic users.

In all this is the best PDA out on the market at this time. The down side is that the cost to have it is to high for first time buyers looking for a Great PDA. The lowest price I found for this PDA is $399 at Circuit City. In all tho it has a great i...nterface and awesome color with lots of jam packed features. This is perfect for people who are used to PDAs and are looking for a great upgrade. For first time buyers I reccomend a Palm Piolot that is Small and can be as low as $150 to start you off so you can learn the basic funtions. Also do not purchase it if you do not have a PC at home or work with Blue Tooth Technology. You can save a couple hundred bucks by looking for a PDA with features that you need and not with extra features you will never use or know how to use. Read more Less

    Buyer Beware

By Kathy  Oct 5, 2003 | 43 out of 54 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: The screen is larger than competition

Cons: Poor service from HP and unit's sensitivity to heat and cold

The unit does not respond well to heat or cold climates and is only good in an air conditioned office environment or airports. If it is exposed to being left in briefcase inside a car while you are eating lunch at a restaurant, the warranty is void ...due to excess heat that can build up inside a vehicle. THe competition products do not have that problem. Read more Less

    best handheld ever

By alantilden  Oct 4, 2003 | 23 out of 30 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: quick, brite ample screen, bluetoot & wifi,

Cons: it was desgned for microsoft pocketpc

the device is a dream. excellent screen, light weight, sd slot plus accepts all compaq 3800/3900 accessories, lncluding cables, jacket, keybd, etc- and most of these accessories are now on clearance.unfortunately, the device is run by microsoft, so e...xpect: compability issues; lots of rebooting, non-existant setting dialog boxes, meaningless help that doesn't have the error messages as part of its database; difficulty removing programs;poor formatting of web pages; defective instructions for setting up peer to peer wifi; incomplete instructions setting bluetooth to your BT phone. Its a crime that bill gates is the world's richest man by turning out product after product that has to be "upgraded" to solve "known errors",and still won't do everything it should. For example, file explore won't let you see other computers on the wifi node, or send or receive files to other devices with copy/paste. you have to use the cable and activesync. Web pages are too big for the screen, and moving around on them with the jog key is worthless. So, enjoy the 56% of the system that works great! Bill will pocket the money he saved by not completing the other 44% of the product. Whose pocket do you think they mean when they say POCKETPC? Justtell yourself its a $1,000 pda that only has 56% functionality--but you got it for only $560. Read more Less

I can't live without this thing!

By Trevor L  Nov 13, 2003 | 5 out of 5 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: Big screen, quick startup, sooooo easy to use

    Cons: screen durability

I bought one of these b/c a supervisor had one and raved about it. I have been very happy, and, although at first I didn't know how much I would use it, have become fairly dependent on it. Having been in the windows environment before, I was af...raid that every time I turned it on, it would take a minute or two to use, but this sucker goes at the touch of a button! My wife plays the games a bit, so I have noticed that the screen is a bit scratched where the cards are, and when I use the letter recognizer feature, some of the places I write have become duller, but the screen still looks like new! Also, when I try to sync it with my home computer, sometimes the connection gets lost and I have to totally reinstall the sync software. All in all, this is a fantastic piece of machinery! EXCELLENT - but you pay for it!

    Pros: Built-in wi-fi, Windows Pocket PC 2003

Cons: Price, fairly larger than competitive models

I have been using this product for about 60 days. All features work exactly as described, wi-fi detects and connects to all available wi-fi Internet access.Greatest room for improvement is in operating system itself: Windows Pocket PC 2003 could use... better e-mail communication and ability to connect to LANs and use LAN assets (printers, shared folders, etc.) Integrated Bluetooth generally works as described, but is not easy to configure (and is a poor excuse for LAN connectivity). This unit is much larger than similar PDAs - probably as a result of integrated wireless features. It will NOT fit into a breast pocket in your shirt. If you purchase this unit, immediately upon purchase ALSO buy screen protectors and USE AT ALL TIMES to prevent screen damage from normal stylus use.NOTE: Belkin thumb keyboard for this unit is a better product than the Compaq/HP equivalent. novice ... !

By Angelo  Oct 28, 2003 | 3 out of 3 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: biometrics, wi-fi and bluetooth in one unlike toshiba E750, windows mobile 2003, etc.

Cons: Too fragile, bulky, no sample video clips or audio when initially bought ( its not really a con, but i'll consider it )

Believe it or not, this is my first PDA. And I've never been more satisfied.

    MY NEW TOY !!!

By Cesar  Dec 20, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

Pros: speed, style, and finger print security, low energy consumption, size, bluetooth networking.

Cons: Price, lack of docking stations for vehicles, speaker volume, weight.

This is by far the coolest gadget I've ever had. It makes organizing my busy schedule much easier. I now remember everyone B-day, and Holidays. I have yet to use the web browser. I'm overall very happy with this product. I think this mak...es the perfect companion for any one running a business. My only wish is for this item in the future is to let me use my *.csv files in the contact section. Just like my cellphone to my PC. The product lacks docking stations to attach while using the Navman attachment. And also a docking station with an amplified speaker would be the perfect match. TIP: Try to store all new programs on an external memory card, and not in the built in memory. This will make it work a lot faster. Comments and other tips: send to cgonzalez7842@yahoo.com Thanks. Use it for only one year

By kousay  Jul 5, 2004 | 1 out of 2 found this HP iPAQ H5555 review helpful

    Pros: N/.A

    Cons: Support from the Moon

I'm using an Ipaq PDA for the last year, during this year I have face some problems which get solved by HP technical teem and some problem required to send the ipaq to them to solve it. after the warranty year is finished, I faced a problem with ...the ipaq and when I contact the support they told me that they need to send this ipaq to get repaired and the cost is 390$ for ANY REPAIRS WHAT EVER IS THE PROBLEM since they need to send this ipaq to Europe.I don't know based on what factor 390$ been calculated, which is 65% of the price of the new model of the same series. So if you want a PDA select one which is more reliable from a different brand because during the use of the PDA you can not avoid problems and if the problem happen after the warranty year you will replace it and not to pay 390$ for minor problem.Regards Read more Less

    Pros: WiFi

Cons: Poor Customer Support and Poor Battery Life.

$650 and no owners manual. The worst customer support that I have ever encountered. It is much slower than my Sony Clie and I have yet to find a database that works well with it. I now have to carry 2 PDA's because this one will not do it all ... for me. Read more Less
