    Great portable and rugged laptop

    When buying a laptop, I decided that size, weight, DVD, battery life, were the key features. The 12 inch iBook is small and light, but big enough to be used. I've had the iBook G3 800 for 7 months and I still love it. The battery life is great.... Watching movies on long trips is great. I was worried that the G3 processor would not work well with Mac OS X but overall it has been great. Files in microsoft office are 100% compatible with the PC world. The air port is 100% compatible with other WIFI networks. OS X is UNIX based, stable, and easy to use. Apple support has been great. They know the products and software inside out. The CD RW burns slowly but works well. The bottom line is that I'm very pleased with the system, especially when I compare it to friends similarly priced portable PCs. There is no comparison.     I cannot say enough good things about this computer. I am a PC user and I thought I would try an Apple iBook. I was very pleased because everything worked. I was use to having to tweak this or that to make something function, and I was prepared ...to do so. The occasion never came. I have owned this product for three or four months and it has NEVER locked up. I use the Safari pop-up blocker and I never get pop-ups. It is light- weight, and I use the airport card and surf the Internet from my lazy-boy. It does everything it claims to do, and the more I use it the more I love it. The iBook was a good investmet and I am glad I bought it. Oh, I purchased the iBook with the CD-RW which is about 200 dollars more but well worth it. Burning a CD is unbelievably simple. I can burn a CD for music or saving files, but best of all is the ease of use it provides for a digital camera. IPhoto comes free with the computer, and it is packed with organization and easy stuff to do with pictures and movies. I encourage anyone looking for a laptop to consider the iBook. It is a great buy for the money. Read more Less
