84 Charing Cross Road is the only video I have ever rented multiple times. The film is somewhat unusual in that it has practically no action, being for the most part an exchange of letters between an American writer, (Anne Bancroft) and an English a...ntiquarian bookseller, (Anthony Hopkins) primarily on the subject of books she wishes to purchase. The letters show two intelligent and civilized people with a love for literature that develops into a love for each other during several decades spent on opposite sides of the Atlantic. The real-time parts of the movie provide an evocative look at America and England in the 1950's, and just enough of a glimpse of the main characters to allow us to get to know and love them. While the primary "action" in the movie is language, the film images fill out the words so that by the end we feel that we have known these prople all our lives. Wonderful film! Read more Less
