The 3Com Switch 5500-EI PWR, 3Com Baseline Switch 2226- PWR Plus or other IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE products can supply both power and data to the access points through Category 5 or 6 Ethernet cabling, giving you flexible installation options in hard to wire or reach locations. For convenience a PoE adapter is supplied with the unit.

Tough WPA/ WPA2 with TKIP and AES encryption provide the latest standards-based security. For additional protection, the AP supports EEE 802.1X and MAC address access control, authentication, and authorization through backend RADIUS servers. IEEE 802.1Q-compliant VLAN support and VPN passthrough combined with the multiple SSID and security profiles let you design flexible security for different user groups, control access to network resources, and segment user traffic. Versatile Wireless Distribution System (WDS) solves complex wireless connectivity problems, supporting point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and repeater modes.
