take to bike shop when out of the box

    Pros: looks

Cons: cheap side pull brakes/ no whitewall tires.

I bought mine used. It had only a few hours on it. Right away I adjusted the cheap side pull brakes the best I could. I noticed the crank was loose and decided to take it apart. Thank god I did, The bearings where dry as a bone and needed lube. I wou...ld advised any one who buys a bike made in china, and out of the box, To have a good bike shop check it for true rims, brake adjustment, and make sure every thing is lubed. Also get seat and bars adjusted for your fit.. Read more Less

Schwinn Point Beach Mens Bicycle 26"

Pros: Light aluminum frame, multi-geared, cool retro look

    Cons: None

I was initially looking at the Mongoose Blackcomb. After many discussions my sister talked me out of it and convinced me that I would be much more comfy on a beach cruiser because the Mongoose was too heavy, had an uncomfortable seat and riding posit...ion, not to mention that it cost twice as much. I argued that the shock system on the Blackcomb would be best for me when riding the dirt roads but she insisted that it is all about the seat. Anyway, I am glad I listened. I like to take my big Dobie out with me and the Point Beach gives me a very comfy upright sitting position on a large bodied, albeit light frame, which makes it easier to control my excited dog. It only has 7 gears, which for me works great because I usually only use 3-4 gears on a bike anyway. The seat is comfortable, as are the handlebars on my hands. I initially did not care for the beach cruiser style of bike. I thought they looked kind of grannyish, but this bike is quite reminiscent of the old Schwinns I had as a kid that I used to jump and do other stunts on. I like its look from the seat with the racing stripes and the "S" to the candy apple red paint with white points. I live on a sandy road in Florida and ride on dirt as well as pavement so this bike suits me wonderfully. I don't know how great it would be for the serious bicyclist, but for the casual rider like me who just wants to get out and ride and get in shape and just have fun, it's a great bike.
