    The Best!

A must-have for any Fleetwood Mac fan. There is not any track that I do not like. It is a wonder I have not worn out disk 3 and disk 1!

    what ever happened to "70-'74

    By christopherL  Jan 28, 2002

if i ever needed an overview of the B/N years a little extra attention given to the 10 years or so FM has been around. this is the thing to buy. however...Where's all of Christine's contributions? included here is "why", "heroes...", and "come a litt...le bit closer". But what about "just crazy love", "show me a smile", "spare me a little love", "remember me" and "dissatisfied". "hold me" is not even on the boxed set which is one of her greatest contributions. what about kirwan? "sands of time" "dust" child of mine" and bob welch? "hypnotized" is included but not "emerald eyes", "future games", "forever" and "miles away" i was dissappointed to say the least and returned to set. maybe someday warners will release an accurate FM box set but i doubt it. Pro Reviews: 25 Years: The Chain

  • All Music Guide

Overall, Fleetwood Mac's fourCD box set, 25 Years: The Chain, contains a lot of great music, with plenty of the 1970s hits that made them one of the biggest bands in the world. It fails as a complete chronicle; not enough weight is given to the early, bluesbased Mac with Peter Green, and there are too many songs (nearly a whole disc's worth) from the lightweight 1980s albums. Also, the haphazard song sequencing doesn't help matters it doesn't make the case for Fleetwood Mac's music as a body of work, and it doesn't trace the evolution, which should be apparent from the diversity of the music. If nothing else, 25 Years: The Chain offers evidence that Lindsey Buckingham was a brilliant pop composer and that the band's '70s success was well deserved. Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Biography

Peter Green

His career riddled by drug abuse and paranoia, Peter Green is still regarded by some fans as the greatest white blues guitarist ever, Eric Clapton notwithstanding. As he grew up in London's working-class East End, Green's early musical influences were Hank B. Marvin of the Shadows, Muddy Waters, B.B. King, Freddie King and traditional Jewish music. Calling himself Peter... Read more
