I love this album. I love Janet. From the moment I pushed play I was satisfied as usual. Favorite song for me is "This Body". Awesome love making song. Handle it.

Better than the Last

I've loved Janet since i was a little girl.. and will always love her.. but her music has fallen off some... this album is more enjoyable that her last effort.. but shes still whispering in what i guess is an attempt to sound sexy or an effort to hide the fact that she doesnt have the greatest voice. This was a better effort and i appreciate the fact that she laid off with the highly intimate sex talk.. i can most definitely do without all that. good music is just good music.

Unlike all of her previous releases, there is not one single song on here that I feel like playing over and over again. It sounds the same as the other songs on the other CD's that I didn't listen to. But I got my copy. I will continue to get my copies. She my favorite entertainer and I can't to see her in concert again. I just hope she does not sing any of the songs on 20 Y.O.

Cons: took a long time to come out...

Classic Janet all the way. Giggles and laughs. Jermaine had just the right amount of influence. At first play he popped out more because I'm not use to hearing it with Janet, but Janet in her genius and perfection made it all her own. I've played it over and over. "Enjoy" is on my alarm clock...bought a dream machine specific to that song. All the haters have done a disservice to themselves only. True Janet fans should not only enjoy this album, but rave and feel it is the new favorite. I'm glad that it is one of the first albums to pop up on my Nano, why go any further in selecting.

I can't help but just love this CD, there really isn't anything out there that compares to it. This one isn't like Damita Jo, it's better. All the haters are just jumping on the band wagon without actually listening to this CD, don't hate appreciate. It's odd everyone seems to forget all the good work she's done for numerous of charites over the past 15yrs+. It's easy how everyone and MTV seem to forget that they dubbed her their 1st MTV ICON.

Pros: The best female R&B album of 2006

Cons: Not enough songs for a full album

Every single song is a hit! Even her interludes are fantastic! The first song is the dance-club hit duet with Khia, "So Excited"."Show Me" is the 2006 "Miss You Much" as in the familiarity in spelling out the lyrics. The next track is very similar. In "Show Me", Janet tells the man to show her how much he wants her, while "Get It Out Me"
talks about how this man,unlike no other, releases her inner freak. Number 5, "Do It 2 Me" is one of the top 5 best tracks. The way the beat is, the mid-tempo, the incredible lyrics that say "Not anybody when I need a solid, My first and only call is to you" and " Now that I've laid the foundation,You don't need my direction.Just give me that affection,
You know how to serve it.Turn up the music to drown out the screams If you still hear me Baby work it out." "Do It 2 Me" is sure to please R&B, Hip-Hop, Pop and Contemporary audiences and shold highly be considered as the third or fourth single off the album. "This Body", which is very original, can have you a little scared. The song incorporates rock, hip-hop, r&B, pop, & balladry all in one song! Though it doesn't grab the first time you listen to it, by the 3rd you'll be asking for a remix. "With U" looked at by Janet and her critics as the "Let's Wait Awhile" follow-up, is a ballad that's an ode to how real love allows you to be yourself and the conversation after sex.One of the Top 5 best songs. "Call On Me" is a song like no other. Its about having that friend you can call on for anything. Janet's first duet since 99's collabo of
"What's It Gonna Be?", it is truly a classic song that stands alone in a time when video girls and having the most money is all that's important.
"Daybreak"-abou
t sneaking out the house as teen and not coming back 'til the morning- is a refreshing up-beat happy song. Then there's "Enjoy", often considered a much better
"Escapade" is the BEST track on the album! It encourages you to live life to the fullest despite your situation or circumstance. Also with the beat, a great Chicago stepping song! "Take Care" is the slow track and if possible the 6th best track but i decided the limit was 5. A kid-friendly masturbation
song. The last track-(and last Top 5 best)- is "Love 2 Love"! A 100 percent perfect way to end an album. # 3 on My Top 5. The song eludes about how making love makes there actual love stronger. This is truly a classic memorable album that'll be in any music lover's cd changer for decades to come. She is truly back in "Control"!

Pros: not a single 'bad' track

Cons: some songs seem lacking the 'janet' sound

from start to finish this cd is completely listenable. it's probably one of the only cd's i have that i don't skip songs on. songs like 'do it to me' and 'with u' are so good you'll probably end up going back a few tracks to hear them again. there really isn't a single song that i skip over.

while not having a single standard dance track on the whole cd, you really don't miss it. i would have been disappointed had there been. janet is better than that. besides, you're too busy grinding to the music to care.

the only complaint i would have is that JD probably had too much to do with the cd, or janet had too little, because some songs just don't have that janet quality. they're all good songs, but there are a few that just seem lacking, as if anyone could have done them. still, 'anyone' didn't, janet did.

very worth picking up. you won't regret it.

I am very glad that I listened to someone else's copy of 20 y.o beforehand. Otherwise, I would have made the biggest purchasing mistake of my life.

I love Janet--stuck by her through Nipplegate, her weight loss, the whole nine. I even applaud her romance with Jermaine...they seem wonderful for each other. However, I feel there is too much of Jermaine's creativity in this one and not enough of the Janet I love.

The Call on Me collabo with Nelly was whack. The only song I really love is So Excited. Everything else lacks the creativity and the lyrical versatility that I know she has.

Maybe instead of morphing herself into what's popping today, she should go back into what initially made her an icon in the first place.

Cons: Same problem I have with Michael: Can't understand the words sometimes. At least the lyrics were included.

It's the Janet Jackson that everyone has come to love over the past 20 years. She has her main producers, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, plus Jermaine Dupri. You can tell that Jermaine had most of the upper hand at producing. That's not a bad thing, though and it works well. Janet's loyal fans (like myself) will love this. I speak from having this CD bless my speakers on a daily basis. If you're new to the Janet Jackson fan base, it'll have to grow on you but you'll come to love it.

Janet show's that she's still in CONTROL. Her lastest LP deals alot with love, but don't be confused as to certain songs have an underlaying message. "Enjoy" being one of them. A smooth jazzed filled mid-tempo track, in which Janet tells her listeners to "Enjoy the simple things, Enjoy when someone sings, and Enjoy the gift of Life." What she's really saying is no matter what hardships my family or myself may go through, I'm still going to go about the business of living my life.

Pros: Wonderful music - multiple hits on one disk

Cons: The mysterious conspiracy by some in the music industry to sabotage this effort

This album is packed with fresh beats, clever lyrics, classic janet sounds and a little bit of something for everyone. 20 y.o. even features some things that are totally new for Janet. Overall, the album is unique - you'll be treated with complicated beats, sweet vocals, masterful live instruments and a very relaxing song that I keep on repeat - "Take Care". What a wonderful come back!

On a side note, there are many in the music biz that want to destroy Janet's effort to come back - perhaps out of resentment for the Super Bowl and the FCC fallout. Nonetheless, this has not stopped old fans and new fans from anticipating Janet's every new move. 20 y.o. is a success because music lovers love the music, not the politics.
