    Pros: funky

    Cons: older

This Ohio double threat produced for his Weightless crew and rapped for RJD2 before putting one and one together. Though he's the kind of rhymer who scans "another good record with bad distribution" all too swimmingly, the hip-hop don&#...39;t stop even when it's about some hip-hop-writing "Boom-Box" for Radio Rahiem (of Do the Right Thing, kids) does back-in-the-day prouder than usual. "Big Girls Need Love Too" has a whole lotta heart. "Inner City Native Son" is a straightforward narrative with beats and moral to match. "Kill Me First" makes police violence musical and chipmunks Richard Pryor. "Liberated" respects the dimensions of its theme. Read more Less

    Real Hip Hop!

Pros: This Cd brings to hip hop what it needs...REALISM!!!

Cons: Only downside is that the dude's voice is a bit similar to most underground mc's but this guys flow makes up for it.

This cd shows how the underground hip hop can make it on a semi-mainstream level...THIS IS A MUST GET IF UR A BACK PACKER!

"Fresh for '88, you suckas." KRSOne said it on "My Philosophy," and MC/producer Blueprint repeats it 17 years later on "Anything Is Possible." Blueprint samples, quotes, or pays homage to Doug E. Fresh, RunD.M.C., Stetasonic, and other oldschool artists on this tribute to the golden age of hiphop. He isn't really trying to break new ground on this relatively accessible collection of concise, melodic songs, but he is trying to add something to his influences instead of settling for a nostalgia trip. DJ Rare Groove's cuts and scratches fit the throwback vibe, while Blueprint's beats tweak oldschool ideas, whether he's working with a Billy Joel piano fill on "Big Girls Need Love Too" or Doug E. Freshstyle beatboxing on "Fresh." The only guest MCs are Aesop Rock and CJ the Cynic, who appear on one song each. Blueprint provides some cunning rhymes and changes up his delivery to fit the album's diverse subject matter, whether it's the earnest social commentary of "InnerCityNativeSon," the pl...ayfulness of the aforementioned "Big Girls Need Love Too," the obligatory braggadocio and complaints about wack MCs, or even the emotional vulnerability he displays on the second verse of "Liberated." His observations seem most trenchant when he's complaining about the current state of hiphop on songs such as "Trouble On My Mind," which serves as a reminder that it ain't 1988 anymore. - Todd Kristel, All Music Guide Read more Less
