  • All Music Guide

The third volume in the Classics Amos Milburn series picks up after his biggest hit"Chicken Shack Boogie" from 1947 and offers fans 22 more tracks taken from his singles of the day on Aladdin label. He was a huge draw and these were the top recordings in Aladdin's catalogue. Jukeboxes throughout the South, Chicago, New York and even in L.A. were featuring recordings by Milburn. This set include the original recorded versions of classics such as "Jitterbug Parade," "Hold Me Baby," "Middle of the Night," and "Pot Luck Boogie," were his most successful records from 1948 while 1949 saw "Rooming House Boogie," "Let's Make Christmas Merry," "Bow Wow," "Driftin' Blues," and "Red Hot Momma." As is standard on the Classics label, the sound is exceptional and the presentation and liner notes are comprehensive.
