    Powerful, lush, beautiful

Surely one of the best albums I've listened to. Ranks right up there with the other Massive albums, which is a great feat indeed. Although all of the songs are way above average, a couple stand out: "Name Taken" for its eerie, slippery ambience; and ..."Prayer for England", for its metamorphosis from starting meek and light to the point where it shakes the room with its power. This entire album gives me the chills. It inspires deep introspection and leaves me staring in silence when it's over. The closest thing to a religious experience that music can bring. Hmmm......Good, but.....

If you are buying this album expecting to hear the heavy bass and in general dark ambience of Mezzanine, you will be dissapointed. On my 1st listen to this album I hated it for exactly that reason - It is not an extension of Mezzanine. On my 2nd list...en, I was better able to appreciate this CD. It is lighter than Mezzanine and Blue Lines, and not quite as "thin" as Protection, but it is still Massive Attack - There are a lot of layers to the sound. Sinead O'Connor is good, but not as...soulfull as the female singer from previous MA albums. If you like Massive Attack - buy this CD, you won't be dissapointed as long as you don't expect it to be an extension of Mezzanine. Read more Less

    It's something Different.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 18, 2005

Pros: Unique, nice sound quality, smooth lyrics

Cons: May be a little odd for most people

I enjoyed this almbum highly, it's definately not the most in mainstream but I'm sure their reputation is building. This is my favorite album from Massive Attack. It's yet again a mixture of Trance,Dance and alternative, that makes this c....d. odd for most. If you like Supreme Beings of Leisure or Portishead, you most likely like this one. Read more Less

    Great!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 15, 2005

    Pros: Perfect!

Cons: America can learn something about music again...

Britpop rules for a long time. Again a band makes music that has soul. That is the difference between America and Europe. American Music doesn't say a f*ck. In Europe we have al this different influences that makes our music so special and surpri...sing everytime. Read more Less

he hits it right on the money.i like mezzanine, but i thought they'd progress from mezzanine (and believe me, they can progress from mezzanine, if they can actually progress from blue lines).if you think mezzanine was MA's best album, pick it up. it'...s more of the same stuff. but that's just it. it's more of the same stuff. they've actually done something that isn't groundbreaking.
