omg you catz gotta be kidding me. i cant beleave that people actualy call this album to comercial or what ever. this album iz blazing hot, the beatz are banging soo hard that they can bust your speakerz even on low velume. dmx lyricz are great and al...wayz has a story to his songz or a deep messsage. he dont just rap about things hes thinking of. hes raping about what he ben through and itz deep.people need to understand that dmx iz not a raper first, hes a man first, hes very strong minded and shares his life with uz. he iz strong and he is a person that got many people back up in life when they where falling. intro - hardcore barking to get you prepared. one more road to cross - 1 out of 10 i give it a 8 the professional - 9 fame - 7 here we go again - 6 party up - 10 make a move - 8 what these bit*** want - 8 what's my name - 10 more 2 a song - 9 dont you eva - 7 d-x-l - 8 comin for ya - 10 alot of people dont like it but as for me i love it. the prayer 3 - 9 deep angel - 7 deep wordz but not crazy bout it. good girls, bad guyz - 5 in my opinion i love this cd, but you got to judge for yourself. we all got different taste in songs. you might find this cd to be trash but eyyy no one can change what or how you feel about the cd. Pro Reviews: ...And Then There Was X

  • All Music Guide

Though it's DMX's third album in two years, ...And Then There Was X doesn't show much sign of burnout. True, it's similar to his last, which balanced new-school gangsta tracks ("The Professional," "Make a Move") with a couple that question the inevitable trappings that come with success ("Fame," "One More Road to Cross"). And the productions by Swizz Beats, P. Killer Trackz, and Shok -- all part of Ruff Ryder Productions, Inc. -- are heavily synthesized and occasionally melodramatic, just like both of his previous albums. Even when Swizz Beats' usually reliable productions fall through, DMX brings it all back with his tough rhymes and inventive wordplay. He's still torn between the thug life and spiritual concerns (even including a long prayer in the liner notes), but the most exciting tracks on ...And Then There Was X are good-time joints like "Party Up" and "What's My Name?"

Biography

DMX

Following the deaths of Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G., DMX took over as the reigning, undisputed king of hardcore rap. He was that rare commodity: a commercial powerhouse with artistic and street credibility to spare. His rapid ascent to stardom was actually almost a decade in the making, which gave him a chance to develop the theatrical image that made him one ... Read more
