Black Friday may be one of the best times of the year for deals on electronics, but President’s Day weekend is the best time for discounts on brand name apparel, shoes and accessories, as well as big ticket items and more:
Bedding and mattresses
Kohl’s is offering up to 80% off its bedding closeout, plus free shipping on orders over $75. Sears is offering 50%-60% off mattresses. Delivery is free, and Sears will even haul away your old mattress.
With Spring just around the corner, you’re likely interested in sprucing up your home. And this is the time to do it, with savings of up to 50% on everything from sofas to carpeting, and up to 70% (if not more) on floor samples as now’s the time of year (and again in August) when retailers switch out the old and bring in the new.
This is a top category for discounts in February--especially after Valentine’s Day because there isn’t another jewelry-centric holiday until December. At Macy’s, you’ll find 30%-50% off silver, gold, pearls and diamonds. At Sears, all diamond bridal jewelry is 80% off. I do!
And PS, Savvy Spender viewers: jewelry.com is offering you a special 25% off promo code YAHOO25 for any order over $100. On Cyber Monday, you would have had to have spent $500 to get the same discount.
Home exercise equipment
Not a gym rat? Rather work out at home? Run out and take advantage of all the February deals because they’re out there--on everything from ellipticals to workout DVDs and apparel. At Sears, for example, Nordic Track treadmills are on sale for $879--that’s a savings of $620 and is its lowest price of the season.
Apparel, shoes and accessories-online!
For all you online shoppers, you should know that Presidents’ Day Weekend is the most heavily discounted holiday of the year, with average savings of 48%, according to analysis by shopittome.com. Enjoy! You won’t see these above average discounts again until the end-of-summer sales.
