I have purchased items from CBD for such a long time that I don't even know how many years I have used their services! They are, by far, the best Christian service I have ever used. They have an abundance of material and their stock of books & Bibles is amazing. Most every book and Bible I own, I have purchased from them. 2 out of 7 people found this review helpful I stumbled upon ChristianBook.com via Yahoo, while searching for the best prices on some bible study books I was considering. I'd seen several series that had interested me in a local store, but the stores never have all of the volumes in a single series. I was also still trying to decide which series to try, and ChristianBook helped me make the decision thanks to their site offering excerpts from many of their books. I was able to see what each book offered in a chapter and get a feel for the formats. In the end I choose the NIV Bible study series, so I decided to order the first three books to start out with. A friend I mentioned them had me order her copies of the first three as well. The price per book was around $5.50, a nice discount from the $7 publishers price (which even Amazon doesn't discount). The site made it fairly easy for me to find the books in the series, get the three I wanted, and add all the rest to a wish list (always a nice feature on a site). They also offered complete sets for a further discount, which I'll probably take advantage for on the New Testament books. Other items I've found on there, including some fiction, also has great prices. ChristianBook also offers a membership for $5 a year which grants members even lower prices on overstocked, out-of-print, and discontinued items. It also gives members a warning if ChristianBook.com is planning to increase the price on an item, first dibs on new items, and probably some coupons. The site itself is fairly well done, though it can sometimes be a little confusing when trying to find stuff (for example, there were several categories where bible study series seemed to fit, so it took me awhile to find them to browse). The search works better, if you have an idea of what you are looking for. The selection is superb, including not only "pure" Christian books, but also various fiction books and movies that are family friendly. The shipping at ChristianBook.com is a little high to me, though not insanely prohibitive. This is a common annoyance on sites that based the shipping cost on the total of the order and not on the actual weight of the items. The cheapest shipping option is media mail, which they say will take 1-2 weeks to arrive. International shipping is also available, and people in the Boston area can pick up their orders at the store. For my six books, which are 120 pages and about the size of a paperback novel in terms of length and width, the shipping was almost $6. I shipped via media mail, however when they arrived I could see where some of the cost went, since the books were very well packed to avoid any damage. The package also arrived within 5 days of my order (which includes a weekend), so no complaints on speed. All in all, I'm very happy with ChristianBook.com and I will be using them again, not only to get the rest of my bible study series, but also for other books I expect to pick up later. ...
