I placed an order online and received a confirmation, I called 3 days later to find out when my order would be shipped. Customer service said it wasn't in their system. They did agree, that if they went on to the website and entered my confirmation o...rder number that it came up, so they said they would speak to IT dept., and get back to me the following day. I've now called them three times and emailed the person 2-times, with no response. This is appalling, my AMEX card is out there on their website and showing that my order hasn't shipped yet. Wish I saw this site before I ordered from Home Decorators. Customer Service is terrible, each time I talk to someone they say something different than the last person. I ordered Christmas gifts from them with monogramming and I received an email 1.5... weeks after the order that they would be shipped in January. That is 45 days from my order date and they will not cancel the order. I spoke with someone the day I received the email and she said I would get receive a refund in 5-7 days and today when I called they refused the refund and would not discuss the prior call I had with their Customer Service representative. I would not trust anything they say over the phone - make sure you get everything in writing. I will never do business with them again. Read more Less

HORRIBLE. None of the items are worth the nightmare. Items arrive in the wrong place, way late, and your credit card will be mischarged and it will take you months to get it adjusted, if you can at all. Here was my experience with HDC: I ordered a he...adboard through the store. It finally arrived WAY later than it was supposed to. That was back in October. 2 months later I am STILL dealing with customer service trying to get the charge corrected on my credit card bill. I place order in store and my cc is charged immediately. Store clerk enters order incorrectly and it never gets placed with the vendor. I call customer service 2 weeks later to check on incorrect charge. Find out order wasn't placed. Spend 1.5 hours to place the order AGAIN. A month goes by. My order STILL hasn't arrived. Call customer service, order is late. On hold for 34 minutes, and rude customer service person tells me to deal with it. 2 weeks later, order finally arrives, but in a different city. Spend 3 hours on the phone with customer service trying to get it shipped to the correct address. Ask for a credit due to the ridiculous problems I've had. Credit is promised but never shows up on my cc. Call back 3 weeks later and am on hold for 23 minutes. Girl promises to call me back but doesn't. Call back, and speak to a customer service girl who is incredibly rude and insinuates that it is my fault the problems occurred and that I was inconveniencing her. Conveniently, she can't find any notes about the credit on my account. After 42 minutes she promises they’ll post the credit, after condescendingly asking if I really thought that I should be able to get a credit since I had the gall to use a coupon on my order. I’m still waiting for the credit. This was the single worst shopping experience I have ever had. I will never, ever, purchased anything from them again, and I hope nobody else does either. STOP! DON'T PLACE THAT ORDER!! I ordered a Southport bookcase. The pieces came packed in enough styrofoam to build a spacious single family residence. Since there's no quality control in Beijing, the cabinet came with two right sides instead of a rig...ht and a left. This company is trying to duplicate the success of IKEA's construction techniques and they are missing by a thousand miles. Once assembled, the cabinet turned out to be the perfect size...FOR A HOBBIT. Now I know why they didn't photograph the piece with something in the picture for scale! It would be dwarfed by a wastebasket. On top of all that, the components for the bookcase are so poorly manufactured that I live in fear that my Chihuahua will lean on the bookcase and the whole thing will tumble to pieces. The customer service is terrible, both online and at the Lake Zurich store. I wanted to exchange a California King size headboard with a King size that I ordered online and initially I was told I could not exchange it because it was “custom made”... (all I did was pick the style, a standard size and color). After I explained to online customer service that nowhere on their website does it state that headboards are custom made, they agreed to let me exchange it at the Lake Zurich store. I took it to the Lake Zurich store where a store clerk told me that the system would not let them exchange it, but they could process it as a return and order me the King size. To make a long story short, they had actually ended up processing the return as an exchange in addition to ordering a new one, so I had two headboards. I made multiple attempts to explain the situation to online customer service, but they refused to return the first one. I talked to the Lake Zurich store manager who initially lied to me and said that they took care of it, but I continued to receive emails that two headboards were being shipped to me. When I talked the same Lake Zurich store manager to let her know the problem was not resolved, she said the return could not be done and that her store clerk would never return a headboard (even though I had the paperwork to prove it) and that I need to take care of this with the online customer service because it was their error. Also, during this ordeal HomeDecorators also posted an additional charge to my credit card that I never authorized that they said was related to the “exchange”. I did not sign anything or order anything and they did not contact me – the charge just suddenly showed up on my credit card statement. They promoted a discount and free shipping on their website. Then didn't honor it when I tried to make the purchase. IT WAS ON THE WEBSITE. The customer service people where horrible, the woman just about hung up on me and the acted like I was crazy.... They said the offer was not on the website with free shipping. About 40 minutes later guess what, they removed the offer and changed the graphic to just 40% off. I'd appreciate it if they would have just admitted the error and honored the offer they were posting. I don't recommend Home Decorators, horrible service and dishonesty are not good qualities. If I could give zero stars I would!! Will not be shopping there again. Read more Less

I bought a pair of Bradley Club Chairs in late July. When shipped a month later one arrived damaged and the other was a wrong item. Two different box sizes didn't even clue in the shipping department! I contacted HCD immediately, took two weeks to ha...ve shipping co. pick up both boxes. Three weeks later I get another box, not a factory box but a huge one with the chair flopping around loose inside! Upon closer inspection I find that they sent the SAME damaged chair right back to me! A week later another Bradley chair arrives to replace the wrong item. It has a big imprint of an inner box right across the seat back. Not going to bother trying to send this one back. My loss! Still waiting for replacement of damaged chair. All this time my credit card was billed and HDC will not refund even though I still don't have complete order. Customer service was polite but clueless and offered no help. I bought over $3k of items from them. Minimal quality and as far as furniture, everything is scaled down and about 80% of full size. Stay away from HDC. Read more Less

I ordered an armoire from this company on 6/22, with a shipment date of 6/27. To date I have received 6 different shipment dates, with no communication from the company regarding delays. I've contacted the company time and time again to inquire about... order status. The online system does not reflect the accurate price of the purchase. I've been told that the shipping date will be on or before 9/24 at which time my account will be charged. Finally, on Friday my account was charged. I contacted the company to find out why I had not received the shipping information. Well to my surprise I am being told that the item never actually shipped. The "supervisor" on staff, initially tells me that it was a direct shipping item and the bank account is charged at the time of purchase. Well, my purchase date was in June, so that had to be incorrect information. Finally she says that the item was charged on Friday but it will not ship until Monday. It was charged at "the beginning of the shipping process." Whatever that means. In short, this company has horrible customer service, uninformed and impolite representatives, and no interest in correcting or being accountable for their mistakes. DO NOT SHOP HERE. I ordered two file cabinets from their website at the beginning of July. They were shipped separately. One of them was broken in shipment and I called immediately to ask for replacement. The company said they would send replacement parts. I waited a ...little over a week and never received them. I called back and was told they had a record of my call, but my parts order was never placed. They placed my parts order and I received an email saying that I would receive my parts in 5 to 7 business days. Ten business days and no parts later, I called back to find that the parts were on backorder UNTIL NOVEMBER! No one from the company ever contacted me to tell me this. The representative offered to refund my money or I could wait for the parts. I told her I had to think about it. I called back to speak with a manager and was told that none were available and asked if I needed help. I explained the situation and told the representative that rather than wait for parts, I wanted the company to pick up the broken cabinet and send me a replacement. She told me the cabinets weren't available. But I went to the website and they are listed. Hmmm...Very poor communication and terrible customer service. I wanted two matching file cabinets for my family room and now I have one usable one and the other is broken (though paid for!). Very disappointing! Read more Less

Ordered and had delivered a bedside table, in a timely manner, minus the hardware for the doors. After four-months of delivery promises, I was just informed the table is no-longer being manufactured.
