Cara Delevingne for YSL Beaute'
This spring,
YSL Beaute' added yet another mascara to their already best-selling mascara collection. The launch of
"BabyDoll" mascara is proof that the larger-than-life lash trend is not slowing down.
The mascara campaign features the gorgeous model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne wearing a seriously 60's cat-eye, mini-bouffant hairstyle and of course... a YSL babydoll dress. I love the ad, but shouldn't she should be looking at her reflection while applying her mascara? She could lose an eye! I also think it's a little weird that there is a fourteen-year-old boy lurking behind her. Kid brother? Let's hope he's not the love interest....
YSL Beaute'
So what makes "BabyDoll" any different than the four other mascara's that YSL Beaute' already offers?
Apparently there have been some revolutionary mascara innovations going on at the YSL laboratory. The patented formula is extremely flexible and light-weight. YSL Beaute' claims "BabyDoll" will curl lashes from root to tip for 24 hours. It's also a volumizing formula with a plastic brush that alternates between large and small bristles, designed to grab each and every lash you have and really amplify them all.
"BabyDoll" is available in four colors; black, brown, violet and blue. All of the other YSL Beaute' mascara's retail $30, so I am guessing this one will be the same price point. Pocketbooks beware as this is definitely a splurge for the luxury makeup fans.
YSL Beaute' Rouge Pur Couture lipstick in #26
Mascara isn't the only makeup product in the new"BabyDoll" collection. There is also the limited edition "
La Laque Couture Rose Babydoll" nail polish, "Rouge Pur Couture Rose Babydoll" lipstick and 5 liquid eyeliners. The eyeliner shades are "Light Golden Brown", "Light Amethyst", "Golden Reflections" and "Rose babydoll".
YSL Beaute' is a line of makeup that I have not had many experiences with. I have tried the Touche Eclat concealer/highlighter product, which really did nothing for me, and I returned it. I did love a limited-edition illuminating pen that was a beautiful shade of silvery white. I used it all up and when I went back a year later to repurchase and it was as if it never even existed! I couldn't even find a photo of it online. The only other product I have tried is the "Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious Mascara" in Deep Burgundy. I was really excited to try this mascara because the color is so absolutely rich and really ideal for my green eyes. Sadly, it flaked all over my face and I quickly brought it back to Sephora.
I am, however, very intrigued by the YSL Beaute' lipsticks. The packaging is so deliciously decadent and the colors are very lovely. They retail $30, so if I purchase one it will be a very special treat. I have had my eye on the Lingerie Pink shade for several months now.
Everything about this lipstick makes my heart beat faster! YSL Rouge Volupte' in
I will definitely be heading down to Sephora to be one of the first to check out the new collection. I really don't need anything new right now, but let's be honest, that's never stopped me before!
You can find the new YSL Beaute' "BabyDoll" collection at Sephora. Other retailer of YSL Beaute' include Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and of course YSL Beaute online store.
