Last month I began a feature that highlights a few of the best new apps out there. Here are three more that are worth a download:
Talking Gummibär
While I wait for an app that makes me sound like the teddy bear from “Ted,” here comes an app for kids called the Talking Gummibär. The singing and dancing Gummibär can now be accessed via your mobile device. Gummybear International partnered with game developer Talking Toys SL to design and release the Talking Gummibär iOS app.
So what does this bear do? He repeats everything you say with amusing animations and reactions to your touch. He also plays the tuba, has nine different dances and songs, comes with a new game and can send personalized e-Cards to your friends.
The brand new app featuring Gummibär is available now in the Apple App Store as a free download and will work with all current iOS devices, which includes iPhone, iPads and iPod touches.
Fanhood – the Social Casino for Sports Fans
Trash talking and friendly wagers reach new heights from NFL playoff season through March Madness, as fans use every available medium from texts to instant messages to make sports predictions with friends. Fanhood, a developer of social apps, has launched a forum for this buzz of activity, offering an entirely new social sports-betting experience on Facebook that engages fellow friends and fans through wagers, challenges, pools, trivia games and more.
Its makers say Fanhood is transforming the face of online gambling and gaming, fusing the industries to leverage the social explosion of Facebook, the popularity of sports betting and the innate passion many have around friend-to-friend competition. It’s also a lot safer than talking trash and waving money around in a sports bar.
Liquid Comics recently launched the new Liquid Comics app for the iPhone and iPad. The app comes loaded with free comics and videos from leading creators in the comic book and Hollywood landscape, including Guy Ritchie, John Woo, Barry Sonnenfeld, Shekhar Kapur, Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis, Andy Diggle, Marc Guggenheim, Mukesh Singh, Jeevan J. Kang and more.
Liquid Comics will also be the first place to receive updates on new projects coming soon from Liquid, including “Coming of Rage” by legendary creator Wes Craven and horror scribe Steve Niles (“30 Days of Night”).
“Liquid Comics aims to be a home for great creators across film, television and comics to collaborate together on new ideas and bring them to audiences through the visual medium of graphic novels and interactive entertainment,” said Sharad Devarajan, Liquid Comics Co-Founder & CEO.
