Manilow vs. Hasselbeck
Two strong-minded, political celebrities shot way beyond Yahoo!'s hot searches this week: Barry Manilow (the 64-year-old master of pop music with four Emmy awards) and Elisabeth Hasselbeck (the 30-year-old co-host of "The View" married to fellow, former "Survivor" star Tim Hasselbeck). The showdown between the two is simple: Manilow, a liberal who supports the Democratic party, requested not to be interviewed on "The View" by Hasselbeck, a conservative who publicly opposed morning after pills -- even in cases of rape and incest -- and defended creationism. Denying his request for another interviewer, the show backed out of the opportunity, and Manilow refused to compromise.
We can view this controversy as a failure for both sides, but the conflict just brought inundating attention to everybody involved -- making it more of a success by botching the interview idea. Hmm...can we say conspiracy?

WIDEPART says:
I don't blame Barry at all for his unwillingness to be interviewed by "EH".
Her moral views and her religious views seem to be based on a the Christian bible which is a book so full of hate and mis-trust and violence that her child-like faith in it and her interpretation of it's lessons is truly an example of really uncommon sense. Her political views seem to me to be those of the minority of Americans that follow the teachings of the Evangelical Christians - you know the type you see on TV collecting millions of dollars for god. The type that preach love thy neighbour except if they are gay or non-christian or non-republican. EH, has also exhibited her intolerance for other points of view to her own.
Yes, she make a great counter point to the others on the view and lets us the viewers become aware of the scary side of America the side that up until November actually controlled (to a great part) your government. Hope she continues to exhibit her nature as a warning to the majority of Americans of what awaits them if people of EH's ilk are allowed to run the country.

She is not married to NFL star Matt Hasselbeck. She is married to NFL non-star Tim Hasselbeck.

I used to watch the View on a regular basis until about a year ago, but I have a great deal of trouble watching EH. Her views can cause hate of others. I watch very rarely because of her. I wish they would get rid of her. I also find her voice a bit sickening.

Barry Manillow is the "STAR" and he should have been interviewed by someone else. I think it was bad judgement on the Views part to let him walk away without being interviewed. BIG MISTAKE.......
debbie says:
He is an ass. Will not purchase anything by him and will change the radio station if he comes on. What a whineeee little girl. ugh!
ldone41875@sbcglobal.net says:
Yes, Elisabeth Hasslebeck should GO! She adds NOTHING to the show! I MUTE my tv
each time her whinny,annoying,air-headed, single-minded mouth opens! I REALLY
feel SORRY for any kids she have! Can you imagine a society with I, ME, My, attitude
like hers? I hope Barbara does the right thing and NOT return her after maternity leave!
linda g says:
ES is sickening. the view should really dump her. I can't listen to her anymore!!!!!!!!!
yIdChoseNN says:
As far as I know, Tim Hasselback is/was an NFL player, not a Survivor star.
Steve says:
Kind of amazing that an "open-minded," "pro-free speech," "pro-civil rights," "highly educated," liberal can't tolerate the opinions of a young conservative.
Liberal presidential candidates avoid debates sponsered by news organization of which they disagree and now liberals deny interviews, access and information to those which they disagree. By doing so, liberals show their true colors: They endorse free speech, civil rights and open mindedness and tolerance ONLY for those which agree with them.
The duplicity of the left on this subject should be an eye opener for any fair minded American.
edward o says:
What is he afraid of? Plenty of people disagree. I thought this was the whole purpose of communication, to articulate and make decisions accordingly. Barry is chicken!

manilow sucks
mommadillo says:
Hasselbeck is a moron, like most conservatives. I don't care much for Barry's music - too "elevator" for my taste - but his taste in interviewers is right-on. I wouldn't want to be "interviewed" by a cretin like Elisabeth either.
lou says:
I would not walk across the street (and the street across from my residence is a stone's throw) to hear Manilow-I never did like him and my opinion remains the same of him and all LIBERALS (they have been the down-side of this nation for a long time) who run their GODLESS mouth and can't face the other side when it comes to matching wits .......
lou says:
Hey mommadillo let me introduce you to the other half of your MORONIC BRAIN, Barry Manilow
lou says:
To 'widepart' you are the scary one and those like you who run that cesspool you call a mouth........why don't you and others like you move to IRAN and live under their laws for a month---MONEY has it that you wouldn't last a day.......Those signs I see on the highways that say 'wide load', is that your nickname??????
Vickie says:
Manilow is a pathetic liberal!! EH is a better person, and hats off to BW for sticking by her!!
MANILOW... YOU SUCK!!
