Upper: Sauc-Fit, a unique fit system in the upper that not only locks the midfoot onto the platform, but also keeps the heel secure and comfortable. Engineered air mesh provides outstanding breathability. Hydrator® collar lining is Saucony's performance apparel fabric that provides next to skin comfort and maximizes wicking. Padded air mesh tongue for increased comfort and maximum ventilation. Midsole: Removable ComfortRide+ sockliner uses memory foam technology for incredibly plush step in comfort and faster recovery. HRC (High Rebound Compound) Strobel board increases cushioning and step in comfort. PowerGrid™ with PowerFoam™ combines Saucony's innovative PowerFoam™ with their industry acclaimed Grid technology to provide runners with superior cushioning and responsiveness on every run. Impact Interface cushions and isolates heel impact. SRC (Super Rebound Compound) provides shock attenuation and sets the foot up for a smooth transition. Outsole: XT-900 is a carbon rubber outsole material that offers exceptional traction properties without sacrificing durability. IBR+ is Saucony's updated blown rubber compound that is lighter, more responsive and has enhanced cushioning and durability properties. Flex grooves provide optimal flexibility. Available in width B (Medium). Runner's World Best DebutSeptember 2011 This new shoe combines a stripped-down upper with a simple rubber and foam sole that has a level profile. While most shoes have a heel drop of around 12 millimeters, the Cortana's is only 4.6 millimeters, which means a flatter foot strike. According to our lab tests, the lightweight foam (the PowerGrid in the name) supplies outstanding energy return. The Cortana is ideal for forefoot strikers and runners looking to transition to more minimal models with less risk of injury. Running Network Best New ShoeFall 2011The Cortana introduces a new Grid technology for Saucony and is a showpiece for several solutions in cushioning, stability, and fit. The upper is a semi-open engineered mesh with an eye-catching sublimated appearance, welded overlays, and synthetic leather at heel, toe, and eyestay for needed support. Also new with the Cortana is Sauc-Fit, a stretchy medial insert and articulated top eyelets on both sides to adjust and cinch the ankle fit and move with the foot. The midsole features the same 4-millimeter drop from heel to forefoot that's proved so successful in the Kinvara and Mirage. Here it's combined with the new PowerFoam and a plastic Impact Interface that focuses the force of the heelstrike onto a wedge of SRC foam to absorb the shock. The outersole uses a new blown rubber compound with Saucony's proven XT-900 carbon rubber in the heel. The outstanding ride, fit, and innovation earned the PowerGrid Cortana our award as Best New Shoe.
