For broiler use, make sure individual pie dish is 3/4 full and expose the dish to the broiler element for only short periods of time and not too close. Do not heat an empty mini pie dish. The Emile Henry pie dish is not intended for use over direct flame or hot plates. Do not place your hot dish on a cold or wet surface. Use the Ceradon individual pie dish with all types of utensils, but nonmetal utensils are recommended to better protect the dish's surface. Always use protective pot holders or oven mitts when handling a hot ceramic dish. Emile Henry products are easy to clean by hand or dishwasher, but hand washing helps protect the bowl's finish.
