The NEW Platinum Wick for Fragrance Lamps or Effusion Lamps fits all Regular Size Fragrance or Effusion Lamps. the new platinum wick catalytic replacement wick starts instantly, resists clogging and as ceramic stone is gone, it burns cleaner, lasts longer and may be kept in a filled reservoir when not in use! our testing of the new platinum wick reveals: consumes fuel at around 0.3 oz per hour (about 40% less than conventional wick stones). fragrance throw is correspondingly less than conventional ceramic wick stones. lights instantly (within 15 to 30 seconds) no need to soak wicks in isopropyl alcohol to remove carbon deposits. no need to remove the wick from the fragrance lamp when not is use (simply not possible to built up an excessive fragrance load while sitting unused as with a convention ceramic wick). not recommended for extended burns (hours at a time) Ã?Ã- our testing has not shown a problem with longer burn times but the manufacturer does not recommend long burnsÃ?Ã... promise of extended wick life (we cannot tell for sure how much longer at this point in our testing) we like what we see so far, as do the consumer testers we gave one to. Directions 1. Use funnel to fill lamp with fragrance lamp oil (not more than 2/3 full). 2. Insert cotton wick into lamp with wick assembly resting on lamp collar opening. 3. Allow cloth wick to absorb fuel. (20 minutes for initial use) 4. Place flame from lighter over perforations (metal grid) in wick assembly for 25-35 seconds. If small flame appears wick is lit (sometimes you do not get a visible flame). Let small flame burn for a few seconds then gently blow it out. You will begin to smell fragrance and may see white puffs of vapor when lit. 5. Cover wick with decorative cover. Lamp will not disperse fragrance while flame is lit. The wick may be extinguished or might not light if operated directly in front of a fan or draft.
