    Works great but you may need the boot trick...

    Cons: Compatability list is incorrect

    I bought this docking station for the HP 8540w running Win7. It works OK as long as I let the laptop partially boot before I put it in the docking station (I usually what until I get the prompt for my user id). After it's in the docking station I hav...e to press the dock power button before my screen will start. After that everything works as expected. If I try to start the laptop while it’s in the docking station it always hangs and never completes the boot sequence. It’s a bit annoying since HP says my laptop is supposed to be compatible. HP should add an asterisk or something by the *8540w with a note “only if you use the boot trick”. Read more Less
