Pros: Allows use of USB keyboard/mouse without PS2 adapters

Cons: have to wait ages while PC recognizes the USB devices on swtiching

I had been using a Startech PS2 KVM for years, and tired of it because our company no longer buys PS2 keyboards. So I got the USB version - which is terrible. My main complaint is that unlike its PS2 counterpart, it does not keep an active connection... to the connected PCs, so every time you switch between PCs, you have to wait for 10-20 seconds while the PC re-identifies a newly reconnected USB device. And if you hit a key in the meantime, or move the mouse, it takes twice as long. The other big problem is that it does not support swtiching from the keyboard without having to install software (the PS2 version does this). Having to install software to switch also means that you can't switch without being logged in, and you can't switch after you lock the workstation... I am considering putting this thing in the bin and going back to the old one. Read more Less
