Cuisinart DGB-900BC Stainless Steel Coffee Maker

By Donald  Oct 24, 2010 | 1 out of 3 found this Cuisinart DGB-900BC Stainless Steel Coffee Maker review helpful

    Pros: Not much

    Cons: complicated

This machine requires a LOT of maintenance,, The chute running from the grinder to the hopper will plug up but most annoying is after the beans have been ground the machine just sits and clicks, You constantly have to adjust the basket or the cover o...ver the basket to make it stop turning and start producing coffee,, Called the company and they set a new top, to no avail,,,,In the final brew it makes a LOT of mud,, have to use a paper filter in addition to the wire filter Read more Less

    Good Coffee But!!!

By DEEJER  Mar 29, 2011 | 1 out of 1 found this Cuisinart DGB-900BC Stainless Steel Coffee Maker review helpful

    Pros: Looks Nice

    Cons: Jamming Up

Brews a great cup of coffee - but - jams every two or three uses of the grinder. Needs too much attention.

Carafe keeps coffee warm for a long period.

Nice SMOOTH cup of coffee everytime

By Troy Ohio Woman  Jan 27, 2011

Pros: grind beans or brew grounds

Cons: cleaning the grinder shoot (its NOT horrible)

For people who really enjoy the art of making a perfect cup of SMOOTH coffee this is for you. For all others - go get your stale coffee at the gas station. The stainless steel pot keeps the coffee hot for up to 2+ hrs. There is no pot-burner so it do...es NOT cook the coffee in the pot (so its never bitter). The air-tightness of the pot makes it pour a bit slow but I'd rather take an extra 5 secs to pour it in the cup rather than have the air destroy the flavor. The grind feature is GREAT. If you use a really dark/oily bean it takes a bit more effort to clean the grind-shoot... I found the brush and a puff from a can-of-air works well. I use the mesh-basket most of the time but if you use a fine-ground coffee or really oily bean switch to a paper filter (thats a no brainer for real coffee lovers). Like all coffeemakers DO NOT overfill the filter/basket with grounds...it can cause a mess but that was my own fault Ha Ha. The grinder is a bit loud but is much quieter than most grinders. If its too loud for you at 6AM use grounds and dont grind (its a great feature that you have that choice). The How-To DVD was a nice touch... be sure to watch it. Read more Less

    Complicated and Finicky

    By James  Oct 8, 2011

Pros: Coffee is better than average

    Cons: Maintenace intensive

Owned this coffee maker for about a year. Quite expensive to purchase and the filters are difficult to find requiring direct purchase from Cusinert. The coffee maker is very finicky and needs intricate cleaning of hard to reach areas. The stainless s...teel carafe only keeps the first cup hot enough to our liking. The carafe top is extremely hard to remove requiring the use of a rubber jar opener. The machine is optimized to brew 8 cups of coffee. If you make 12 cups it tends to over flow and if you make less that 6 cups the coffee is poor quality. If you don’t have the basket installed perfectly, it overflows making a big mess. The water reservoir is hard to fill. The time setting is not intuitive. If you like fresh, hot, good quality coffee from an easy to operate machine- look elsewhere. We are. Read more Less

    Consistance results

    By SC  May 7, 2011

Pros: Comes with a DVD to show you how to use it

    Cons: None

I have had a number of coffee makers and this is the best. The price seems high but after you have this one for a while you will find that it is worth the price. I like columbia suprimo coffee and this makes it just the way I like it every time.

    Not a better mouse trap

    By michelln  May 8, 2011

    Pros: Looks good, grind beans

Cons: Too much work for a cup of joe

At first this machine seemed ideal but then the reality of cleaning the grind chute, refilling and rearranging the beans and adjusting the finicky filter apparatus made this machine a hassle. I find it's quicker to just make espresso with another mac...hine. After 18 months of use, it no longer makes a full pot of coffee and the coffee is no longer the "ideal" temperature (it's kinda cool). Waste of money; we're looking for a new machine. Read more Less

Great Coffee - Cup After Cup

    By Mike  Mar 29, 2011

Pros: Very Good "Fresh Grind" Coffee Flavor

Cons: Coffee doesn't stay hot enough in carafe

The coffee from this machine has a great flavor, and the aroma from the fresh grind is a perfect way to start the day. I follow the manufacturer's cleaning and brewing suggestions, and have never had a problem in over a year of use. It takes more tim...e than pre-ground coffee makers, but the coffee is worth it. Enjoy. Read more Less

    Awesome update

    By Patrick  Mar 29, 2011

    Pros: Convenient, easy to clean

    Cons: expensive

bought this to replace the original grind and brew coffeemaker. The burr grinder gives uniform texture to the grounds and the carafe keeps my coffee hot for 4 hours. To compensate for the less-than-perfect heater filament I use hot water and pre-heat... the carafe before making coffee (which precludes using the time mechanism). The coffee is good, not great, but good enough. I use extra oily beans and I have never had a clogging problem. Maybe the other reviewers bought a defective product... I'm very satisfied. cuisinart coffee maker

    By Linda  Nov 19, 2011

    Pros: KEEPS COFFEE HOT

Cons: SHUTS OFF BEFORE BREWING ALL OF THE COFFEE

HARD TO CLEAN. GRINDER IS LOUD, YOU DON'T NEED AN ALARM TO WAKE UP. AFTER HAVING IT A YEAR IT HAS STOPPED BREWING A WHOLE POT OF COFFEE, HAVE TO RESTART 3 TO 4 TIMES. WE WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER CUISINART COFFEE MAKER.
