This time, Gerald Levert, Marc Gordon, Chuckii Booker, the Rude Boys, and others help produce and write the nine songs on the set. The consortium didn't help Rice's luck, as none of the songs -- save for a remake of Barry White's "I'm Gonna Love You a Little More" -- really captivates. Rice's voice, a rich tenor-baritone, overpowers some of the tracks and seems out of place on the hip-hop selections. The grandiose ballad "Come a Little Closer" and the up-tempo "Who's Pleasin' You" are not time capsule material but are less mundane than the others. Rice also contributes some keyboards, and Mark Anthony (the Elements) adds some backing vocals. ~ Andrew Hamilton
