Pros: Cleans carpets well

Cons: No bells, no whistles

The Hoover Commercial Lightweight is a very basic vaccum, intended to be used by hotels and offices for cleaning carpets -- nothing more. To that end, it's a hotrod, a 7 amp motor in a vaccum that weighs in at 12 pounds total. It can't do above the f...loor cleaning, has no hose, no attachments -- no way to adjust vaccum settings. The new model does automatically adjust to carpet height, but that's the limit of luxury features. You have to check when the bag is full, and wind the cord yourself. Because it's a bagged machine, you have to be careful about what stuff you pick up -- possibly go over the carpet by hand before you vacuum. But -- and this is a big one, it's excellent at what it does do. It's small and light, so that it's convenient to take out, and easily moves around furniture. The heavy suction and beater brushes get carpeting really clean in a short time. If you don't confuse this machine with a full featured vacuum, it's great.
