Excellent phone - for advanced users

By LOL  Aug 24, 2007 | 62 out of 73 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: Stylish, compatible with networks other than the New AT&T, Rare

Cons: Bluetooth issues, lack of tech support in US

As far as I can tell, this phone cannot be procured in the US directly. The US Prada stores don't even carry it, and neither my provider nor LG USA know nothing about it - making it difficult to obtain tech support or to locate accessories that are ...guaranteed to be compatible. The phone is beautiful and smaller than the Apple iPhone. The 2 mega pixel camera takes very nice photos and the sound quality is good. It is extremely stylish and is quite rare/unique as most people haven't ever seen one in person. The iPhone takes away from it in that regard however as most people automatically and incorrectly assume the Prada phone is an iPhone. So far, I have received more compliments from strangers on my D&G RAZR. It doesn't have the iPhone's auto screen rotation and it isn't quite as intuitive as the iPhone - but is still relatively easy to use. Its biggest plus over the iPhone is its compatibility with networks other than the New AT&T. I use T-Mobile and it works fine with voice and SMS. (I am having some difficulty getting the web browser and MMS to work though.) Other than web/mms, the biggest issue I have is a flaw with Bluetooth. Whenever it connects to the Bluetooth phone system in my BMW 540i, the phone automatically redials the last number - definitely some sort of design flaw. To sum up - would I buy it again? Yes, it's a nice phone and very stylish. It's rare which makes it nice to have, but unfortunately most people don't notice it's rare because of the iPhone. (And for people who think it's a knockoff - it did come out first.) Read more Less

Best looking phone on the market and very advanced

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 29, 2007 | 23 out of 46 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: Advanced touchscreen, sleek, beautiful design, great controls, Bluetooth, radio

Cons: iPhone is stealing its thunder...and its design

The LG Prada is a truly monumental phone. The world's first fully touchscreen phone is also one of the world's most advanced...even more so than the iPhone, with a higher quality camera and a whole host of great accessories to boot. It has an... amazing interface, which is better than almost every other phone on the market. Read more Less

    Everyone has a choice.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 2, 2007 | 19 out of 28 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: Very Unique... sets you apart from other phone owners

Cons: You can't personalise your sms tone, Phone Book is a bit annoying.

Let me just start by saying that i really really hate it when people complain about the prices of things...if you think it's too expensive... DON'T BUY IT! Everyone has a choice and there are lots of different phones to suit every need and every budg...et, so just because you wouldn't buy it, you don't have to ridicule people who did. I have owned a Nokia 8800 and then after that I owned a Sony Ericsson W810i (which was the cheapest phone i've owned, but was probably the best, great features and very user friendly), But now I decided that I wanted a very slim phone (something that doesn't cause a huge bulge in your pocket) and also something that stands out from the other millions of people with the Razr etc etc..Does that make me a snob because I choose to be different?. Anyway... Firstly, you CANNOT compare the LG Prada with the iPhone, ok yes they BOTH have full touchscreen, but thats about it, the iPhone is a smartphone and the Prada isn't, it's a normal phone to make calls, listen to mp3's, text msg people, take pics etc,....simple as that. The LG Prada is second to none re: it's looks, there's no doubt that if you put it on a table alongside Razr's, N95's etc, the LG Prada is the phone that be will be drooled over. This is the first time i've owned a touchscreen phone, whereas lots of people will be used to them from owning Pda's, SE P900'S etc, so it takes quite a lot of getting used to, especially when text messaging (first msg took me about 10mins of mistakes and swearing), but be patient as perseverance pays, and now i'm pretty fast at texting. The camera is pretty decent for a 2mp, but you can't compare it to the 5mp quality of the N95. In lots of other reviews i've read people have been complaining about the loudspeaker, to be honest, I actually don't think it's that bad, especially if i'm playing music on it. The battery life isn't that bad, but then again I leave it charging when I go to sleep so I don't know whether other owners charge it once every 2-3 days. My BIGGEST problem with this phone however is the phonebook, that's pretty...well ok... VERY annoying.. the numbers saved on sim and phone card are saved as one.. and I didn't know that, and copied sim contacts to phone and wound up with double entries (NO fun when you have to delete over 300 duplicated numbers) Also , the phonebook for some stupid reason, stores the names from surname first (as far as I know, this cannot be changed) i.e Tom (Pc tech) gets stored as (Pc tech) Tom, so I had to manually edit each number for it to show first name first. Another thing that I miss is the fact that I can personalise my ringtone and my alarmtone, but I Cannot personalise my sms tone, but the smile factor I get from seeing and using the LG Prada makes up for it... Ya have to take the Bad with the Good I Guess. On the whole, i'm VERY happy with this phone (phonebook problem aside) and would wholeheartedly recommend it to people who are willing to spend the extra money to be different and stand out. If you're not willing then DON'T complain about the price,(It's like saying you are expecting to buy a Ferrari for the price of a Hyundai) there are phones which still look good, have much more features and aren't that expensive (The Sony Ericsson W810i). Summary. If want a stylish & unique phone to use to make calls, sms etc that you won't see on every coffee shop table, then buy the LG Prada, aslong as you can justify to yourself it's cost. If want a smartphone with GPS, 5 mp camera, etc etc, then buy the Nokia N95. And finally, if you want a phone like the LG Prada, but with more features, then the Apple iPhone( but remember they have their own problems, i.e Contract only etc). Read more Less

It competes with the Iphone on every level

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 19, 2007 | 18 out of 23 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: Ease of Use, Great Camera, Great Features, Great Design, feels less fragile than Iphone

Cons: Battery Life needs some improvement, getting information from Lg for this phone is impossible, must call international for customer support, Iphone stole spotlight,

This phone is a great alternative to the Iphone if you are willing to spend the extra cash. The phone is easy to use, stylish, and it has a little weight to it so you dont feel like your going to break it. The only drawback for U.S. customers will be... that Lg USA doesnt have any paperwork on this phone so you have to call Lg headquaters in the UK. But other than that the Lg Prada phone is a great phone all around. Read more Less

I'm calling you.... What more can you say....

By Chrome  Dec 4, 2007 | 6 out of 9 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: LG, Prada, touch screen, FM radio.... etc...

Cons: No wifi connectivity, screen can scratch, to many people want to see it

I have had the phone for about a year now and I have never had any problems with it. Dropped calls have been at a minimum, reception is great, and with a good screen cover, the touch screen is very easy to use. I usually go through phones very freque...ntly, but this one has gone through a lot and has hung in there. In the past 3 years counting backwards: Prada LG (great phone) T-Mobile Nokia E65 (great phone for business) T-Mobile LG Shine (didn’t like it, I had a lot of problems) T-Mobile Dolce & Gabbana Motorola Razr (liked it but had problems) T-Mobile Motorola Slvr (like the styling but to much pocket phone) T-Mobile Nokia 8800 (Love it still) T-Mobile Samsung SGH-G600 (it was just a phone) T-Mobile Innostream slider (solid phone, used it until I broke it) T-Mobile Nokia 8860 (the original chrome phone – love it) AT&T All my T-Mobile phones have been unlocked versions and I had them before the came to the United States if at all. Great phone

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 18, 2008 | 5 out of 7 found this LG PRADA KE850 Cell Phone review helpful

Pros: stylish, lightweight, slim, easy to use, mass storage device

Cons: lack of support in US

This is a great phone I have had for over a year. I live in the US so some of the option are limited but I still love this phone. I get looks and questions everywhere and wouldn't trade it for that heavy brick of an Iphone for anything. If you look h...ard enough you can get it here in the US. Oh and make sure you get a screen protector for it. Read more Less
