PUKE! RED FLAG, Critical ALERT, RECALL BAIT...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 19, 2007 | 2 out of 3 found this Panasonic VDR-D300 DV Camcorder review helpful

Pros: small balanced size makes it easy to throw perfect Joe Montan-style spiral passes downfields beit to a wide recieover or an empty dumpster

Cons: Major Desiign Defects,Useless Broken Software and Grossly Fruadulant Marketing Claims seem trivial when compared to its FATALLLY DEFECTIVE PRODUCT FUNCTIONAL QUALITY AFTER 8 HOURS OF RECORDING TIME.

When shopping for a that new vid cam, with h-end features and a low end price tag the VDR-D300 is gonna look sweet. And its specs will seduce you and like any other piece of iunk that's promoted with dazzle and alluring claims, you can't be savvy eni...ough to leasrn to avioid the trash crap that's flooding into the stores until it bites you in the ass. Your only protection is in the hope that it reveals its sorry ass quality SOONER rather than LATER after you'be taken it home with you. In my case, looking back at the few instances in which I got error messages ( "BAD DISC" or "UNREADALE DISC") immediately after i'd recorded an entire brand new mini disc, I made the blunderous mistake of assuming that I'd done something wriong or perhaps the disc media was defectiuve ..bascially ignoring the wry mundanern fact that thius camera is simply incapaable of recording a session from start to finsih without either crashing during recording or afteward, omehow corrupting the completed finalized disc during playback. I suppose its my fault for buying more and more discs in attemptting to troubleshoot a camera defect.. But before i was able to understand the cause of that defect, the camera must have known I was pissed off aty it and so without fanfare nor a farewell, the camera slit its wrists.... comitted suicide. Yep it sure did. while I was viewing some stills on a SD card! This is week 5 since I broghjt it and I've used it for no more 8 or 9 hours total. I';m watching some pics change in slideshow mode and suddenly the power cuts out . Hmmm.I was running off the AC charger and so I figured that the darn cord had fallen out of the powerstrip t But no the cord was fine the power strip was fine as was all; the other devices plugged into it. i switched the camera off and back on again to not avail. I pressed the reset button and snapped the fully chrged battery pack into the camera but nothing worked. Again, at week 5 since purchased, this device is LIFELESS BROKEN NON OPERATIONAL WASTE OF $600 Read more Less

Pros: Attractive features like MEGA I.O.S.

Cons: Don't know what is the correct CCD number.

I was confused on the full specs that was posted on this Panasonic VDR-D300, the CCD quality is only 1-CCD, on other hand the label on the camera states it's a 3CCD. Please somebody clarify this what is correct. I also checked other website about the... specs of this camera, they say it was really 3CCD. Now, I don't know what is correct. I'm planning to buy this camera, but now, I'm not sure if I have to really buy it. Read more Less
