I've taken a lot of great shots with this camera. I mainly take macro shots but have been frustrated in taking shots at any distance. If you want to take pictures with no flash in less full daylight, you're going to need a tripod. The video feature i...s great. I've seen some complaints about battery life; I've found the battery to be very long-lived. It's a very good inexpensive camera. Read more Less
This is probably the easiest camera I have ever purchased. Pictures are clear..
I have had my camera for about 6 months and I love it I take so many pictures with it.
This camera is really beautiful but i don't know why in the twilight i have a problem when I take the picture in that style the picture looks like moved can you explain me why this happen...
The camera is sleek and slim the best thing about the camera is the function knub on the right corner you can use one hand with a finger you can do all functions easily.
Overall this is a nice camera, never gave me any problems, very easy to use and configure its setting
This camera is great. It does have a the Black, White feature.
Bought as cheapo from a local Sam's $200 mostly because the macro would read from 1-2 cm. Found the sensor is greatly improved from earlier models with less dark field reflection, I take macros of shiny objects. Sensor is made by Sony. Haven't used i...t long enough to tell on long range dependability, but I think it will cover my camera shooting needs for the internet for quite some time. Of course it is still not close to film for distance people photos, but no digital is... Great overall camera! Read more Less
digital image stabilization should have been done in this model too....
tessar vario lense gives good performance. sharper images and vibrant coloours. I would not suggest going for inbuilt software enhancement....try adobe PS instead.
This camera is great. Make sure you are buying a camera for good close up pictures or large landscape pictures. My main beef is how it performs with less than perfect lighting. I took it to a museum where you are not allowed to use flash photography.... The ISO feature is great during day-time but sketchy without good lighting. The pictures are grainy and very sensitive to motion and things will be blurry if not given time to focus fully or if you breathe too hard. But all the other functions work GREAT. At that museum I dropped my camera and damaged it, I sent it off for repair and within a week, its on it's way back. I fully recommend the Cybershot DSC-W50. Superb Camera. Read more Less
The Sony DSC-W50 belongs in that group of very compact cameras that are no bigger than a deck of cards. This particular model offers a 6-megapixel resolution, a Carl Zeiss 3X optical zoom, and a generous 2.5-inch monitor. Read more
Featuring a 6.0-megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom lens, and well-designed user interface, the Cyber-shot DSC-W50 updates the popular Cyber-shot line with a thin, compact body style perfectly suited for travel. Read more
Overall, I'd recommend the Cyber-shot DSC-W50 to most everyone. Those of you who shoot under unusual lighting conditions, or who want to take long exposures (like I do in every review) should look for a camera with manual controls (the high-end DSC-W100 offers manual exposure control, but nothing for white balance). One of the other big features on the W50 is its high sensitivity mode, which can boost the ISO to 1000 for sharp, blur free photos (though we'll check the noise levels later in the review). Read more
