I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a quality camera that is not complicated. I have managed to get professional quality photos with this camera and have even had the most unbelievable night shots with this camera.
I bought it for my son, who is taking photography classes in Senior year High School. I want one now, but I already have 2 newer FujiFilm pont and shoots! I need a good camera for my business, as I take thousands of pics a month as a Motion Picture l...ocation scout. Looks like pro camera, black over black, has automatic pop up flash, easy to use right out of the box, incredible pic quality (and I have 3 SLR's and 3 Digital cams), color is deep and rich, controls are intuitive. Uses 4 AA batteries, no hard to find or expensive batteries. Smallish screen (1.8") but washes out less than most, plus you have a thru the lens viewfinder to peep through, color LCD also. Typically, Fuji cameras have great features for the price, well made, and the Super CCD technology is truely inovative! Highly suggest you go for it. Paid $239.00, and it was on clearance. Also get the FujiFilm 1 megabyte xd memory card for long videos and lots of pic storage. And I've made up my mind, I'm getting one for myself!! Read more Less
This camera has everythig. Soccer mom to pro, second camera. Puts to shame Canon. Kodak makes good film. Sony makes good electronics. Watch out for advertising. Fujinon lens is with all television cameras. Glass is glass, plastic is plastic. 1/8th in...ch macro. Or close up for you internet surfers. Go to a camera store for cameras. Or take your car for a oil change to Wal-Mart. Do not buy a camera when getting an oil change. Read more Less
I love this camera. This is my third digital camera and is a super camera for the price. It is very easy to use in Auto Mode and the more you read and understand the owner's manual, the more features you can employ. It takes great pictures and has lo...ts of cool options. The 16MB XD memory card has a very limited capacity but with the 128MB card I use I can get over a hundred pictures before the card is full. Uploading is easy and straightforward. I like the different resolution options and especially like the 3:2 aspect ratio option which is the same as a 35mm film camera. Zoom and macro are great. Takes great night shots if on a tripod and the two second or ten second auto timer eliminates any camera shake from pressing the shutter release. I really like the 55mm threaded ring on the end of the lens for effect, protection, wide angle, or close up filters. I use rechargeable AA batteries and am amazed at how long they last in this camera. This camera lives up to the advertising. I wholeheartedly recommend this camera to anyone who wants more than a shirt pocket camera and less than a professional DSLR. The biggest problem I find when talking to others with this camera is that you need to read the owner's manual. All the answers are there, you just have to read it and practice. It has so many features that I have read it two or three times and I still don't know how to use all the features without consulting the manual. It's a great camera for the money. Read more Less
I went from two other Fujis to this one and I LOVE it ! The zoom is great - I go to alot of concerts and it takes exceptional pictures. I dont use alot of the extra features since the AUTO and the Video are about all I need. Last concert I went to... didnt allow cameras, but I snuck it in anyway and was surprised that even with my finger holding the flash down so it wouldnt go off and give me away that the pictures came out clear and really awesome. I doubt that I will go to any other camera. I had the Fuji Powershot A630 before this one and by the time I got done paying for an extra zoom lens the S5200 ended up costing LESS for a much better camera with alot tighter zoom. The only thing I can find fault with is in concerts by the time I get a shot I want and the performer moves then the camera is slow on the take and it gets the performers next moves, not the one I wanted. This is a Great Camera for the Money. Everywhere I go People think it's a Digital SLR because we use extension lenses and a Glare Hood. It even takes shots comparable to a D-SLR. Except for the Cost of the xD cards(which you can get on sale if yo...u shop), this is the best camera i have ever used in the "under 500 dollar" range. Good flash for an Internal. Fast Transfer time to Computer. Comfortable handgrip. Read more Less
S5200 is a great camera. The zoom is amazing, there is no blur images in hight zoom telephoto shots.
By the way, batteries dont last quite as long T_T.
Anyway, very good camera ^^
I have been using this camera since Dec. 2006 and I take most of my photos in low-light since I take photos of bands at a local dancehall as their house photographer. I found using the neck strap enhances my ability to stablize the camera without a t...ri-pod since I am "on the run" taking most of the shots. I do wish I could zoom while in video mode, but you have to set the zoom before starting the video. I researched several cameras before purchasing this one and it is my 3rd Fuji digital camera. Overall, I believe this camera easier to use than the other two that were rated higher by consumer reports. Read more Less
