Great TV for the great Price

By KUNCHUMG  Sep 13, 2005 | 29 out of 31 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

Pros: Great quality picture and looks

    Cons: Screen Door Effect

I have been using this TV for a week and so far I like the way it looks and the Picture quality and sound quality is great on this TV. The thing I hate is it takes 30-40 Seconds to start and also takes a few seconds to switch between SD and HD chann...els which is pretty common with most of the HDTV's. I see some screen door effect once in a while which might bother some people. The setting out of the box may not be the greatest but surely can be tweaked to suit your taste. Overall I love this when compared to samsung DLP that my neighbour has. Read more Less

    Not what I expected

By Roughneck  Oct 2, 2005 | 16 out of 20 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

    Pros: Cool Pics

    Cons: Fuzzy

OKAY, I was going to purchase a 36" HDTV Tube television when Mrs. Derrickman asks why not get a bigger TV. Not missing the only opportunity in a lifetime, I made a hasty decision to buy this TV from a local store. I was in a hurry and the store did... not have on one the floor. They did however, have a 42" of the same model and it looked great. I use dish network satellite and had it connected within 30 of unloading it. But, to my surprise, the picture from the Dish is a bit fuzzy. It is almost as fuzzy as a non-digital cable signal that I used to get from the provider before I discovered satellite. It may be that I need to adjust something, the technical support from SONY was helpful, but stated that they would charge for a service call (I have only had it 6 days) if nothing was wrong. I will periodically update this as the drama continues. Right now, I am on the fence. Love the size, but the picture quality stinks (as compared to what was on the showroom flo Read more Less

Get a Sony LCD at a good Price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 11, 2005 | 14 out of 15 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

Pros: Very clear picture, easy to use, light weight, very adjustable

Cons: Lamp replacement every 2-3 years

If you search around you can get this great TV (KDF-E50A10) at a great price. Reason? The newest version of the model (KDF-E50A20) is out and they are looking to clear the KDF-E50A10 out of inventory. Light weight, great picture and very crisp. So f...ar this has been a great TV. If you can get it below 2000.00 I would jump on it...can't beat if for the price. You can spend twice the money and get a slightly/moderate jump in the contrast ratio if you go to plasma...but in my opinion I would go with LCD. On a good digitally transferred movie (pixar, etc...) it displays a perfect frame. I mean it looks stunning. (I have an older Toshiba HDTV and it is a night and day difference.) If you like to tinker, then this is a good TV for you. It has many adjustments. If your picture looks a little fuzzy on this TV, it is a signal problem and not a TV problem: HDTV 1080i signal step down, Older DVD transfers, etc... You don't have to worry about Burn-In on the LCD models Read more Less

3 weeks and no regrets. Wonderful

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 6, 2005 | 10 out of 10 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

Pros: We bought ours and love it.

Cons: slow to come on and fan noise

Oh! what a picture. Why did we wait so long? Excellent. Plenty of connections. Cable movies now have a much better picture than our DVD's. We just plugged it in and everything works. No adjustments necessary. Easy to hook up. I see the replacement b...ulb is available over the WEB site for $199.00 These bulbs can be replaced by the consumer. They do burn out just like the projectors at work. Read more Less

    Superb HDTV for the price

By Netra  Sep 27, 2005 | 7 out of 9 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

    Pros: Picture quality, price

Cons: Not as sleek as plasma

I was looking for an affordable good quality HDTV and found this is one. It is so good in clarity of the picture and sound. Plus, I paid as much as half of any plasma TV that is any where close to 50 inches. It has true widescreen with 16:9 aspect ra...tio that is not elongated as 52 inches TVs. Overall, I love this TV.. Even for an HD newbie, I love this TV

By AJ  May 5, 2006 | 2 out of 2 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

Pros: Lightweight, sharp picture, easy to see at all angles, great built-in speakers

    Cons: slight screendoor effect

I have done a poor job keeping up with technology when it comes to today's big screen sets. Finally, when the opportunity came to buy this Sony big-screen LCD, I was forced to learn on the fly. I've read a lot of reviews here from folks with surroun...d sound, HDMI hookups and the like, but for me (for now), I'm running straight analog and over-the-air digital pictures in a very very bright room in my house. I must say after 5 days, I think I made a great choice. We set the TV on a harth above my fireplace, which fit nicely and was easy to lift with just two people. (I think it weighs less than 70lbs) The picture is sharp and clear, even in analog mode. As others have said, the default settings may not be to your liking, but it's relatively easy to make adjustments. I'm not doing anything fancy with the set, but it certainly looks great tucked within our living room. The built-in speakers are excellent, and I've only seen slight screen-door effect so far. (Have only had limited use of HD channels over the air) Haven't yet hooked up my DVD player, but even as-is out of the box, it's a giant step up from our old 27 inch CRT. I'm excited to try out all the bells and whistles, but even using this at it's bare bones, it seems to be an excellent choice. Glad I went with it. PS - I have yet to see any pixel problems that others have noted. (knock on wood) Read more Less

    Great KDF-E50A10

By Richard  May 14, 2006 | 1 out of 1 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

Pros: Great value compared to other rear projection models.

Cons: Could use another HDMI Input

We finaly bit the bullet and bought a large screen HDTV from the local Sony outlet store. I had my eye on the KDSR50XBR1, but the 50A10 was set up next to the XBR at the store. While the XBR looked slightly better, it wasn't $600 better. I must ad...mit, the best picture in the store was on a KDL-30S2000. Unfortunately, the size of our room begs for a 50" set. The picture on the Bravia S2000 was great. I'll wait 3 more years and by then the new factories will be cranking out the larger LCD displays. The service at Sony's outlet store was top-shelf. There was no pressure or hype. The gentlemen took it out of the box, examined it, tested it, set up the picture, reboxed it, and loaded it my truck. Read more Less

Pros: The HD picture for 720p and an LCD rear projection are Fantastic

Cons: I just set it up last night so I really have found any cons, the one thing I don

The HD picture for 720p and an LCD rear projection are Fantastic; it has plenty of hookups and even comes with an RGB connector for your computer. The automated setup was great. The weight makes it so even grandma can move it. It

By monika  Jun 19, 2008 | 0 out of 1 found this Sony KDF-E50A10 Television review helpful

    Pros: nice picture

Cons: turns itself off and sony is no help

Bought the tv on 12/15/05...first service call to Sony, 12/16/05. The TV would turn off and the lamp indicator would blink 3 times, blah blah blah. Have reset the TV hundreds of times, replaced the $230 lamp bulb , had a software update. No solution ...to the problem. Just went out and bought another TV. Gonna throw this one to the curb. Sony offers no help and advice other than turning the TV off and resetting it, which is not a fix. Sony waits until your warranty is up and tells you that you need a service call on the P.O.S....
